My first Zootopia story in a long while. Today (November 29th) is exactly a year when I posted my first story, "Ambition". I wanted to do a complete revision of the story because of how overall bad and cringeworthy, so here we are.

NOTE: There is absolutely NO WildeHopps in this story. I don't like that ship. The primary ship that will appear is Nick X Finnick.

July 18th, 2017. Nick's POV

Its been a year now, since my life changed forever. Since that rabbit came into my life. Since the former mayor was arrested. Since bigotry against foxes and preds lowered. Wild times, don't you think? I even joined the ZPD, something nobody could've ever thought would happen to a guy like me. A scheming fox that's a master at hustling, doing illegal crimes... You get the point. Many thought I joined because of her... Well, that isn't the truth.

I finished writing the sentence into my personal journal. I paused and peered at the words. Still some more to write, but I was content with what I have. I got up from the wooden chair and closed the book. I needed my coffee.

Before I did, I grabbed my phone off the desk and checked the time. It read 4:57AM.

I let out a tired sigh. My police duties were stressful. Hadn't really been able to sleep at all during the night. Just another crappy night, I guess. Everyone has those nights.

I turned my head and looked at the bunk bed me and Fin used. My eyes trailed up to the top where Finnick was sleeping peacefully in the darkness. My lips curved into a smile.

The little fennec I had known lots of my life hadn't really figured out that I worked for the cops... yet. It was kinda dangerous for us to be around one another; he still pulled his typical crimes and I was a good-natured cop that's supposed to arrest criminals. It's surprising he hasn't found out. Maybe my fibbs were convincing.

First, I tell Fin that I'm working multiple construction jobs around the city, and then I turn up with a real firearm (Which by the way, are highly illegal in Zootopian area and only police and other licensed companies such as security services can use them.) saying that I bought it off some chap from another state.

I obviously hid the badge from him at all times. He couldn't find out about that, or we were done for good.

I looked away and walked towards the door, opened it and left the room quietly making sure he wasn't awake. I closed the door behind me lightly.

I walked over to the kitchen and turned the light on, not that I needed it anyway. I made my coffee and turned the blinds open. I peeked out into the city street at night. No crackheads were out terrorizing anyone, which was nice.

My coffee finished and I poured it into a mug. I took a nice sip and enjoyed the taste.

I sat down at the old dirty family table that me and Fin set up next to the kitchen. I got out my phone and browsed the web. I checked my notifications for Twitter. I kinda became a little celeb online since the incident last year.

I let out a quiet laugh as I read some of the messages I got. A lot were asking when me and Judy will get together. I always responded with a 'Were just friends not bf/gf lol' or a 'Prolly never' which was the honest truth.

I spent the next while online before noticing it was past 5:30AM. Damn. I thought. One hour before work.

Might as well have a shower to wake up a little more. I figured. I got up from the chair and went into our room and grabbed some clothes and my gun n' police badge in a briefcase underneath the bunk bed, again making sure I didn't wake up Finnick (Who was beginning to really snore now, indicating he's have a good sleep.).

I left the room and went into the bathroom, which was a little dirty. We really needed to clean up the apartment, but Fin says he has better things to do. I turned on the water and made sure it was warm enough for me. I got undressed and had my shower. After that, I dried off and put on some casual clothes.

I checked out my foxish form and did some stretches in the mirror before giving myself my trademark smirk and left the bathroom with the briefcase.

I stepped out and went to leave the apartment. However, a deep voice stopped me. I turned and looked behind. Fin was there, standing behind me. "You headin' out?"

"Oh, hey buddy!" I said in a cheery voice and gave a smile. "I sure am. Did I wake you up accidentally?"

"Not really. I woke myself up. Anyway, you go on. I'll see you later today, and don't get killed by falling off a crane or some stupid sh-"

"I know, I know." I said, putting my paws up.

"Good, now get outta here. Y'all be late." He motioned me to leave. I gave him a nod and a thumbs up before heading out.

I closed the door behind me and walked downstairs to the ground floor and left the building. I took in some of that old city smell I knew so well and walked on the sidewalk, ready for another day.

So there's the first chapter. Reviews are appreciated and please note that I don't update daily anymore. Mostly on weekends now.
