So, this is actually a rewrite of a chapter I posted nearly two years ago. Two years ago I started this story after reading several Paper Mario and Ed Edd n Eddy crossovers. I always loved Mario RPG, as do many others, so I was surprised no one had done a crossover between the two before.

Seventh grade me made choices that ninth grade me thinks were sort of stupid. I've also gotten better as a writer since my middle school days, or I'd like to think so at the very least. I'll let you be the judge of that.

Chapter 1: The Edventure Begins

It was a normal summer day in the small town of Peach Creek. Many children were either outside, playing with their friends, enjoying the cooler than usual summer temperatures, or taking advantage of the fact that they had no set time to wake up. However, three boys, were neither outside nor sleeping in.

A boy about 12 years old, wearing a yellow bowling shirt and cyan pants, was leading two other boys to a small hatch in the ceiling. He jumped up to reach the cord connected to the hatch, but missed due to his short stature. He frowned, then tried again several times before finally succeeding. As he descended, the hatch opened, allowing a ladder on the inside of the door to slide out. He grinned, then began climbing up, ushering for his comrades to do the same.

One of his friends, as he climbed up, decided to speak up. "Eddy, why are we exploring your attic again? We've explored it thoroughly several times now," a boy in a red shirt and a black, sock-like hat asked. The boy named Eddy looked back down at him.

"I know that, but there's a secret I forgot about," Eddy explained. Behind them both, was a boy taller than both of them. He wore a green jacket over a red and white striped shirt. He let out a goofy grin.

"Ooh! Secrets! I like secrets, Eddy!" the tall boy happily exclaimed.

"Ed, what DON'T you like?" Eddy asked with a chuckle. As Ed reached the end of the ladder, he paused to think about the question. He put a finger to his temple as he let out humming sound to indicate he was thinking. After several moments, Eddy finally said, "You know what? Don't answer that." Ed then happily nodded.

"Again, I must ask, why are we up here?" the boy in the hat asked again. The attic was stuffy and dark, lit by only a single light bulb above them, only aided slightly by the flashlight that Eddy had brought. The room was filled to the brim with cardboard boxes of many sizes. The boxes themselves were all filled with a number of interesting items from the past. A number of the boxes lay strewn across the floor from one of the groups last visits into the attic.

"Like I said before, Double D, I remembered there's something else up here that we haven't looked at," Eddy explained. Noticing a sheet of bubble wrap on the floor, he couldn't help put pick it up. He was delighted to discover that it had yet to be popped, and with Ed's help, began poking at the sheet. Double D folded his arms and gave Eddy an unsure look.

"Can you at least tell us what it is?"

"Well, about that..." Eddy let out a nervous chuckle. He stopped popping the bubble wrap as he handed the sheet to Ed for him to enjoy alone. "You see, I've never actually SEEN it. I just know it's up here."

Double D let out a sigh. "Your lack of planning skills continues to amaze me everyday, Eddy."

The shortest Ed shrugged. "Eh, planning is for loser," he said nonchalantly. "Anyways, if I'm remembering right, I think we're looking for a door, or something like that." He looked around the room, paying close attention to the walls.

"A door? May I ask what this door will lead to? Or do you not know that either?"

"What, and ruin the surprise? Nah, you'll find out when we find it." Eddy said. Seeing a few cardboard boxes in front of one of the wall, he rammed up against it in an attempt to push it. Unfortunately, the box seemed to have several heavy things inside of it. Eddy let out growls of frustration as he tried several different methods to push the box. He glared up at the box before trying to give it on last mighty shove. Try as he might, the only thing that moved were his feet as the slid backwards. Eddy threw his flashlight at it in annoyance before looking over at the others. Double D had been moving boxes that were smaller and lighter to create a path to one of the other walls. Ed had jumped inside of a box and was playing inside of it. "Ed!" Eddy shouted. The largest of the trio's head shot up out of the box at the call. "Help me with this thing! It's like, a million pounds!"

"If that box truly weighed a million pounds, Eddy, the floor wouldn't be able to support it."

"No one asked you," Eddy frowned as Ed approached.

"I am Ed! Beware, alien scum! Your buildings are no match for my power of the werewolves!" Ed let out a battle cry as he leaped over Eddy and tackled the box, sliding it into another wall. Eddy rose from where he had ducked and laughed at him.

"Ed," Double D began, "have you been staying up and watching old horror movies again?"

Ed looked over at him and gave a happy nod.

"It's Ed. What else you expect from the big guy?" Eddy asked, wiping a tear from his eye from his laughter. He let out a breath as he composed himself, then picked up his flashlight. Looking up after he picked it off of the floor, however, he noticed something different. "Hey, what's that?" He asked. He shined the light on a peculiar spot on the wall. 'Hey, guys! Check it out! I found it!" Both Ed and Double D looked over at him when they heard him. Ed rushed over excitedly and let out an "Oooooh" at the sight. Eddy grinned as Double D approached. "Alright, now even though I know you'll never be able to guess right, what do you think is in here?'

"Oh! I know, I know!" Ed chanted. "There's a portal that will take us to another world where we'll have to fight with a plumber, a cloud person, a doll, an evil turtle person, and a princess against evil weapons that want to mutate the entire world into more weapons!"

Eddy and Double D just stared at him. Ed grinned, satisfied with his answer.

"While I hate to disappoint you, Ed," Double D began, "the chances of that happening are nonexistent." Ed seemed unfazed by Double D's answer however, and continued smiling.

"Anyways," Eddy continued, putting his hand on the knob, "I think what's in here won't disappoint!" He opened the door slowly, being careful not to reveal what was inside of the room. He shined his flashlight into the even darker room. Using the light, he found the light switch and leaned in and flicked it on. He completely stepped into the room, still not revealing it to his friends, who were trying to peek in through the small area the slightly open door revealed. Suddenly, Eddy then threw the door open and held his arms up in a way to present the new room. "Ta-dah!" He said, unable to come up with something better to say.

"Wow..." The two other Eds breathed out. The room itself was very dusty, even more so than the rest of the attic, a sign that the room hadn't been used for awhile. However, to their right, was a large shelf made of wood that was filled with video game boxes, cases, and cartridges. On their left, was an old TV that looked like it no longer worked, surrounded by old video game consoles. In front of the TV was a green couch that was covered in holes and tears. A few cardboard boxes sat in the corner with cords streaming out of them.

"I was unaware that you owned any gaming devices at all," Double D commented.

"Yeah, well, no. They're not mine. They, uh, belonged to my brother," Eddy replied. "He was really into gaming, so he used this place to hang out with his friends and play games."

"Oh..." There was then an awkward silence between them after that. No one liked talking about Eddy's brother after having met him, especially not to Eddy himself. "Well, regardless of their previous owner, you must have had some reason to show this to us. Would I be right to presume that it involves us using these consoles for ourselves?" Double D asked, breaking the silence.

Eddy nodded excitedly. "Yeah! I mean, since he's never gonna use this room ever again, and since we'll need something else to do this summer since we're out of the scamming business...let's use it ourselves!"

"Yay! Video games for Ed!" Ed shouted happily, doing a belly flop onto the couch, which fell to pieces after he did so. Eddy began laughing while Double D rushed over to make sure he was ok. "Fit as a fiddle and ready for takeoff, Double D!"

"Hey guys, want to play a game right now?" Eddy then asked after composing himself.

"I believe that's a fine idea, Eddy," Double D said as he and Ed stood up. Eddy looked up at the many different games on the shelf.

"Any ideas?"

"No. Perhaps you should try grabbing one at random and seeing what you find. Ed and I are going to try and find some seats, seeing as the couch is no longer an option." Double D answered, throwing a glance as the pieces left of the couch. "May I borrow your flashlight?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, sure," Eddy said, handing him the flashlight. He stared up at the shelf once again as the others walked out. Shrugging, he closed his eyes and reached out, grabbing the first box his fingers came into contact with. Opening his eyes, he wiped a thick layer of dust off of the box and read the title out loud. "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars?" He let out a hum of slight interest int the title before opening the box up and pulling the gray cartridge out as the others walked back in with three bean bag chairs. "Now...which system do I put you in...?" he wondered, looking around at the many consoles in confusion.

"I believe you'll find your answer here." Double D said, pointing at the box.

"Oh..." Eddy quickly found the system, which was already hooked up the the TV, and put the cartridge in. "OK, that's done. Now, where's the controller?" He suddenly heard the sound of Ed making explosion sound effects and turned to face him. Ed was playing with the controller for the Super Nintendo, which he had pulled out a cardboard box labeled "Controllers".

"Look guys! I'm winning the game!" Ed exclaimed while pressing buttons as random. Eddy snatched the controller from his hand and plugged into the console.

"Alright, let's get this started!" Eddy moved the power switch up. Nothing happened. Eddy groaned in annoyance. "This is why I hate cartridges." He pulled the game out, blew into it, and tried starting the game again. Once again, nothing happened. "Ugh!" He went to pull the game out again, but for whatever reason, it wouldn't budge. "Hey! It won't come out!" Sparks then suddenly flew from the game, causing Eddy to jolt back in surprise. He looked at his friends with fear painted on his face. "Games aren't supposed to do that, right?" More sparks flew from the game, now even more intense than they had been before.

"This is NOT good!" Double D exclaimed loudly. The sparks then stopped as the cartridge began to glow.

"Great, now what's this thing doing?" A large glowing circle began opening up in the TV, catching all three Eds by surprise.

"It's a portal!" Ed suddenly shouted.

"Ed, this is no time for your comic book stories!" Double D responded. The circle in the TV suddenly began sucking them in like a vacuum at that moment, forcing the tree to grab onto the closest objects.

"I think Lumpy might be right! I think it's a portal, but I don't wanna find out where it goes!" Eddy exclaimed.

"Eddy! I can't hold on for any longer!" Double D exclaimed, trying his best to cling on to what he was holding. However, the power of the portal was too strong for him, and his grip gave out. He was sucked into the portal.

"Double D!" Eddy shouted, but made the unfortunate mistake of trying to reach for his hat wearing friends. With only one arm holding on, his grip failed, and he found himself sucked in as well. Ed looked around the room, now empty of his friends shouts and filled only with the roar of the wind the portal was creating. He looked at the portal.

"Wait for me, guys!" He let go of what he had been holding and allowed himself to be taken as well. The portal closed behind him, trapping the three wherever it led them.

Overall, this chapter is pretty unchanged from it's original chapter. I added more details to make it longer, but what happens is mostly the same.
