The song is 1000 miles by Vanessa Carlton.

I don't own Doctor Who or the song or the characters.

Enjoy!

River Song bent down and sprinkled water onto a small batch of tulips outside. She then stayed knelt to just look at how they were swaying in the gentle spring breeze, and smiled warmly as she touched a single petal.

How she longed to hear the sound of the TARDIS materializing behind her again, to see the Doctor poke his head out to give his puzzled 'Why did the TARDIS bring me—oh…' look that made her want to laugh. As far as she knew, he considered her the best yet worst kind of trouble. Yet, each time either needed help, the other would come to their rescue without question.

'Well… not exactly without question…' River reminded herself, laughing quietly. 'But the answer hardly ever mattered.' And through their endless bickering, she knew that, just as he had with her at first, she was really starting to grow on him.

The phone inside rang, tearing River from her train of thought. She picked up her watering can then walked into her house, setting the can on the kitchen table before picking up the phone right before it's last ring.

"Hello?" She said into the receiver boredly.

"And you criticized me for never answering MY phone…" The man on the other line said, and River's lips formed an o.

"I was outside… didn't hear the phone…" River started apologizing as her face flushed. What would he have said if he found out the only reason she hadn't answered was because she was thinking of him? 'We shall never know the answer to that one…' She pushed the thought away quickly. "Is everything alright?" Yes… changes in the subject were definitely needed.

"Well…"

"Who is causing the trouble?" She smiled, but tried to sound like she was annoyed.

"Daleks, Sontarans, and a few-"He stopped when she let out a small chuckle. "What so funny?" she heard his voice rise until it almost squeaked, but this time swallowed her laughter.

"I'll be right there, Doctor."

If I could fall into the sky,
Do you think time
would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...
Tonight.
