Author's Note: Heya! This is the first of (hopefully) many Dramione one shots! (YAY!) *Awkward laugh* Anyway... Onto the story, and feel free to review with any suggestions you may have! (Ugh...so many exclamation marks :))
Disclaimer: If I owned Harry Potter, then Dramione would exist. Needless to say, I don't... *wistful sigh*
1. Weasel's Benefits
"Granger."
"..."
"Don't give me the silent treatment, Granger."
"..."
"Talk to me!"
"..."
"...Please, Hermione?"
The witch in question sighed and looked up from the cafe table that she seemed to find so interesting and met the concerned eyes of one Draco Malfoy.
"Ron's a stupid weasel.." she muttered, so quietly that Draco almost didn't hear her. Almost.
"You finally agree then?" he replied, making her chuckle softly, but that didn't hide her red eyes and pale face.
"Whatever, Malfoy," Hermione said, rolling her eyes at him but the statement held no venom.
"You know, Granger, I never did like muggle cafes, so why don't you come over to my apartment and then we can talk?"
She nodded her head in a silent reply, and found herself wondering when she and Draco had gotten so close. He smiled gently and they then apparated to his place.
The pair seated themselves on Draco's stylish, white sofa and Hermione finally started speaking.
"I just can't believe he would do this to me!"she said softly, hurt filling her eyes with tears. "I can't believe he cheated on me! With bloody Lavender Brown! And here I was, naive little Hermione, thinking that he... that he lo-loved me!"
She was in near hysterics now, tears streaming down her face and it was all he could do to not hunt down and hex the weasel - painfully. So instead, he wrapped his arms around Hermione, pulled her into his lap and held her in a tight embrace. It was only when Draco felt her relax did he unbury his face from her hair, and he looked down at Hermione only to find her sleeping. Smiling softly, he picked her up and carefully lay her on the bed in his guest bedroom. With one last glance back, he left the room and lay down in his bed, his mind on the brunette next door.
"Morning, Granger," Draco smiled when he saw the girl already up and drinking coffee. "How are you feeling?"
"Better, thanks to you," Hermione said, sending a charming grin his way. He was glad to see that although she hadn't fully recovered, she was well on her way there.
He seated himself on the sofa next to her, possibly closer than he should have, and took a deep breath, working up the courage to do what he had to do.
"So, uh, Granger, I just wanted to ask you, that, well...and don't take this the wrong way, because I'm not trying to take, I don't know, advantage of you when you're down, um, not to say that you are down but I, sort of wanted to, uh, well, don't feel like you have to sa-"
"Malfoy, stop, you're blabbing like crazy," Hermione laughed.
"Ok...Hermione, would you like to accompany me to the Ministry Christmas Ball next week?" he asked nervously and with a tint of pink in his cheeks.
She looked surprised for a moment, but then she grinned and said, "Of course! But, listen, I've got to go now, or I'll be late for my job."
Draco just nodded, shocked that she'd agreed. Smiling, she gently kissed his cheek and left his apartment, leaving him with a blissful expression on his face.
Maybe the Weasel's good for something after all...
A/N #2: sorry if that was a bit cliche, but I really wanted to write my take on it... Some of the chapters will be a lot more unique though ;)
Please review, and I hope you enjoyed this one shot :)
