Forgiveness
I lay in this field staring up to the sky,
The stars were just as beautiful as I remembered.
A small smile wouldn't help but cross my face,
But as soon as it came it disappeared,
With fears of the new day.
My battle was finally over and won,
And maybe my life had begun.
I would no longer be plagued with memories of him,
The man who took everything away,
Who kept taking until everything was gone,
And I had nothing left to give.
But maybe theres light at the end of the tunnel.
A light that I saw when I turned to my left and smiled,
Maybe this man was my salvation,
And I could be forgiven for past mistakes.
I know I've screwed up,
But all I want now is his forgiveness.
And who knows maybe one day he'll forgive me.
He'll forgive me for having to leave.
I had to save him and bring him back.
I had to take that bullet that led to my death.
Although I'm not truely here he knows I'll always be with him,
And all I want now is to be forgiven.
