Ever since Asura was set free madness levels have been off the charts and Stein isn't coping well. He would train daily to get his mind somewhere else, but started to be ineffective after a while. For him the madness is like a constant lullaby lulling him to sleep. And he wanted to sleep so very badly.

No one is safe. They never hear him, not until its too late. The last thing they hear before they die by his hands is the clicking of him turning the screw lodged in his head. The last thing they see is a sickening smile on his face.

Death was not happy about this, in fact he was furious. He dubbed Stein's soul a goner, but he knew he couldnt send anyone after him without them getting hurt. So he had everyone stay inside and out of site. That didn't stop Stein though. He kept coming, the more he killed, no matter what it was be it animal or human, the more he seeped into madness.

If it wasn't for Marie, they would have lost Stein for good. He woke up from that deep slumber he was in. He managed to regain his sanity again. But we all know thats to good to be true.

He tries his hardest not to fall asleep again, but he cant help it. The lullaby constantly playing in his head wills him to sleep and this time he can't fight it. He starts his dance with madness once again. Going on his all you can kill buffet. And this time he's beyond help. No one is safe not even himself, but at least he was able to get away in the end. He was able to relieve himself of his pain.
