Prologue
Amy Finnegan's mother Sarah had told her stories. Stories of a goblin king who was in love with a girl. Amy heard stories of how the goblin king, named Jareth, gave the girl anything she wanted. He even went so far as to take her brother away for a time. She heard of how the brave girl had to journey to the king's castle in order to get her brother back.
The girl did get her brother back. But the king lost the girl. The girl never knew how the king really felt until after she was married with kids of her own. The king visited her one night and explained everything. He apologized for taking her brother. He apologized for not being there like he should have. Before the girl could reply, the King vanished. Gone forever.
Amy often asked who the girl was. Her mother would get a distant look in her eye. She'd look out the window with a sad expression on her face and say with a sigh that she did not know. That the story was just that. A story. No reality put into it.
But it was not a story. Sarah knew exactly who the girl was. The girl was Sarah. But she could never tell her daughter that. Amy would surely tell Scott, Sarah's husband and Amy's father. And this was something Scott couldn't know. Because deep down inside, Sarah knew that she loved Jareth too.
Jareth never truly left Sarah. He was always watching over her. Even when Sarah married and had kids, he watched over the whole family. He made it his duty to make sure her family was safe.
But watching over Sarah's family and watching over his kingdom proved to be difficult. Civil War broke out. Some of his subjects felt that Jareth did not care as much for them as he did Sarah's family. So they decided to revolt.
Once Jareth got wind of why the revolts were occurring, he started to wonder if they were right. Despite his doubts, he refused to step down. Despite his subjects being terrified of him, he really did care. He decided to put his son Eli in charge of watching over Sarah and her family. Unfortunately, this did not stop the uprisings. If anything the uprisings became worse. Jareth and Eli needed help
But who could help them?
