A.N. This is a very short one-shot I wrote today about Yami recalling a woman from his past. It kind of came out of nowhere and perhaps if enough people like it I may continue it as a story. So let me know what you think!

Memories

He watched the woman in his bed with silent admiration.

'I can feel you staring.' She said.

'I can't help it.' He responded. 'You're beautiful.'

He nuzzled her naked neck and planted small kisses down her décolletage. She giggled and playfully grabbed his hair, pulling him away from devouring her body again.

She tried to stand. 'I need to go.'

'Don't.' He grabbed her wrist tighter than he had intended.

She looked at him. He appeared annoyed, like a spoiled child who wasn't getting what he wanted.

'I can't sta-'

'Marry me.' He interrupted.

She sighed and felt his grip loosen around her wrist.

'Please?' He begged.

She scrunched her nose, begging did not suit such a strong man but then again he showed her a side of him not seen by many. She leaned over and kissed him.

'I can't.' She said, her lips still touching his.

'Why not?'

She fell into his arms and he held her tight.

'I've told you before.' She groaned.

'Then tell me again, over and over until you can deny me no more.'

'A woman like me does not deserve the throne.'

'The throne does not deserve a kindhearted, brave and empowering Queen?' He asked with confusion.

'Your people would never allow it.'

'To hell with my people.'

She gasped. 'You speak with the profanity of Anubis.'

'And you, you are Ammut, The Eater of Hearts.' He countered.

She laughed with her eyes; those warm, soul destroying eyes.

Yami lay on the stone floor of his soul room, staring at the infinite number of stairs and doors that all seemed to lead to nowhere. That memory had haunted him ever since Yugi had awoken him from his eternal slumber. It would appear from nowhere, taking over his mind and leaving him longing for a woman he could not name.

As he always did, he wondered why she denied his proposal. Did she not wish to be with him? It pained him to think that was the reason. Maybe she was already married, or even betrothed to another man. Yami would have easily removed the man's head, if that's what it would have taken to have her.

He closed his eyes and mentally traced the figure of her body. It was obstructed by the sheets but he could just make out the curves beneath, and that was enough to satisfy him. Only if for tonight.

His eyes shot open and he stood with sheer determination. He would continue his search. He had to. He would find her here someday, somewhere deep within his soul. He knew he wouldn't physically find her, but he would look behind every door with the hope to prolong that memory or even revive another.

He sometimes wondered if that were his last memory of her. The last evening they spent together before he was entrapped within the Millennium Puzzle.

He remembered no-one from his past but her. That had to mean something. To stand against time was proof their love was eternal.

He slammed a door, then another and another.

He refused to lose faith.
