A/N: This is my first time writing a story based of the game Dying Light and it looks awesome even though I have never played it myself. I have to admit that the company have done a fantastic job with the graphics and the attention to detail is incredible that as an artist I AM no way near as good as the guys who created this game and I am slightly jealous of their talents. Anyway let get this party on the road. Good night and good luck ;).

Ch. 1 - Awakening Part 1

The Sun began to set over the city of Harran as fires raged out of control with thick black smoke billowing into the air. Papers littered the streets that blew in the breeze as cars sat abandoned either in front of houses or on the roads with some of them aflame. Personal effects lay scattered among the rubbish on the blood-stained concrete pavement.

An animal-like figure lay on the roof of a house that sat abandoned after the outbreak of an unknown pathogen which has nearly wiped out most of the city of Harran's populace as the heat of the Sun gently massaged it's lithe body.

A pair of rabbit-like ears twitched for any sounds as a soft breeze blew through the creature's thick yet silky smooth orange fur while it's nine tails swayed in a lazy cat manner. It had black markings surrounding it's eyes that went all the way to the tips of it's long ears.

A voice then came through the ear piece in the animal's left ear, causing it to growl in displeasure as it scrunched up it's vulpine face.

"Kurama, can you hear me?"

An eyelid opened to reveal a red iris with a cat-like pupil in the centre that glowed in the blinding light of the Sun.

"Yeah, I hear you Rahim. What is it?"

"Amir and my sister are on their way to a drop but I don't think it's a normal drop chute."

The animal sighed before asking, "So you would like me to rendezvous with them and act as backup in case anything happens."

"Pretty much."

The fox now known as Kurama sighed deeply before getting up from the lying position it was in to stand up on all fours. It then stretched to relieve it's joints and it smiles happily when it heard the popping in the joints before it jumped onto the pavement when a loud bang pierced the air.

'Shit' It thought before taking off down the streets at high speed just as a mob of screaming corpses rounded the corner in hot pursuit of living flesh.

It then leapt onto the rooftops before continuing on in the direction of the loud noise while keeping an eye on the shambling Infected populace.

The beast then jumped from roof to roof until it finally landed on the rooftop where it lowered itself and crept to the ledge only to find a young man who had a nasty looking head wound.

It looked up just in time to see a fast moving corpse rush at him before biting into his arm, causing the animal to pounce right on top of it before slamming the zombie's head into the concrete pavement, hard.

The fox then looked up before locking eyes with him before roaring at the incoming corpses as it got into a defensive position in front of the injured male.

Just then, Jade and Amir appeared before making their way to the pair.

It turned it's head to the side before asking, "Get him to the Tower and give him some Antizin to suppress the symptoms."

The female of the pair glanced at her companion but he shrugged his shoulders before he lent down to lift the badly injured male to his feet. Jade asked, "What are you planning, Kurama?"

They got their answer when Kurama pushed itself onto it's hind legs before growling, "I am going to send them back to where they belong and tell the Tower to be prepared."

"Why?"

"Because I am about to blow these fuckers into next month!"

The male with the head wound watched on with blurry eyes as it's nine tails went into position in front of the fox's gaping maw when two different colored orbs appeared before merging to form a dark colored ball of energy. The Infected seemed to know what was going on as the ball shrunk before Kurama slammed it's mouth shut which caused the corpses to start backing away but the fox showed no mercy as it fired off it's attack in a continuous beam of energy.

The immense heat from the attack incinerated the corpses on point of contact while shock waves shook the abandoned neighborhood as well as the nearby Tower. Jade and her partner had thrown themselves over the guy they had just rescued as the blast destroyed the infected in one swell swoop as they averted their eyes as the light was so intense that it could potentially blind them.

The shock wave and the intense light finally died down which allowed the pair to get up and lift the semi-conscious man before taking in the devastation Kurama had caused. All they could see were buildings in ruins and the streets were filled with destroyed cars as burnt remains of the Infected lay where they had fallen, never to walk the earth ever again.

Kurama turned around before flinching when Rahim's voice came over the comms and judging by the angered tone he wasn't a happy bunny.

"What the fuck did the boss say to you about using that attack on the Infected?"

"He told me to wait until you got everyone out of there before forming the attack."

"Exactly."

"I'm sorry Rahim but I had to use it to save a guy who has a very bad head injury and he also has a bite wound on his arm."

"Oh shit, is it Amir?"

The Fox sighed, "No it's not Amir as he's okay and he is with Jade but it's another guy?"

"The one with the bad head wound. Is he one of us?"

Kurama could see that the injured male is losing their consciousness and it approached him, "We'll see Rahim, we'll see when we get back to the Tower, Kurama out."

The male's eyes closed as he lost his consciousness and it helped Jade and Amir with him before allowing the pair to place him onto its back. They walked back to the sanctuary of the Tower just as the Sun set over the devastated city.

A/N: That's the end of chapter 1 of my new fanfic Dying Light - Dawn of Reckoning and I hope you enjoy this as it took me awhile to think of the correct writing format for it. Let me know if there is any errors with the paragraphs, the spelling etc.

Chapter 2 should be up in a week or so, depending on next week as it is my 21st birthday.

Don't forget to R&R
