"See, Rin-sama? This fellow has been taking care of the staff for us, just like he said he would! Isn't he cute?"
Jaken stood frozen, clutching The Staff of Two Heads. He glanced at the friendly seeming giant, whom he had tricked earlier into giving him this device, then returned his gaze to the terror at his side. This... this terrifying girl was not with him before or Jaken never would've dared steal from them! Her appearance was that of a mortal child, but her eyes were hard and her step was firm. Her aura was pulsing powerfully. Jaken felt as if he had a blade pressed to his neck just looking at her. He broke into a sweat and shivered.
"St-Stay back!" He ordered, bringing the staff up and pointing it at them. "Or I will... P-punish you!"
The friendly giant opened his eyes wide. "Oh, no! You wouldn't attack Rin-sama with that would you?" he asked.
"Of-Of course I would if she doesn't keep her distance!" Yeah! Now they would leave him alone, this was a formidable weapon, after all!
The girl just stopped in front of him. She didn't buy his bravado and she didn't spare a glance at either of the heads that was threatening to blast fire at her. She stared right into Jaken's eyes, petrifying him again. Then her face cracked into an evil smile and she leapt forward, knocking the staff toward Sesshy and knocking the goblin down with a hand at his throat.
Jaken opened his beak wide and screamed and flailed in panic but he could not escape! In a moment he was down and the life was being squeezed from him! His eyes bugged and he stared up in horror at the twistedly grinning visage above him, knowing he would die any second. Tears streamed from his eyes and his flailing grew weak.
"Ohh," Sesshy sighed, catching the staff easily. "Don't kill him, Rin-sama. He didn't mean it..."
Rin-sama observed the goblin growing weaker and noticed how easily she had subdued him. What a weakling. Her lust for killing diminished and Sesshy's plea was the final straw. With a sigh she released the pathetic toad and stood up. She scowled at him and pivoted on her heel. Then she grabbed the staff, beckoned Sesshy with one hand, and stalked off.
Jaken gasped for air and cried and began thanking his lucky stars, and even the giant. He sighed hugely.
Sesshy looked down at the toad with interest and was glad he'd survived. "Goodbye, little dude. Perhaps we will meet again!" he said and bowed. Then he slowly turned and called out, "Wait for me, Rin-samaaaa!"
Jaken jolted and then scrambled to his feet. No, no way! He was getting out of here now! He was never going to see them ever again! Quickly picking up his hat and other belongs, he dashed away from the site as if they were still on his trail.
