As Castiel spun Ana into his arms, his demon queen's eyes reflected the terror around them. The world was ending, despite their attempts to unhinge the apocalypse. Around them, Dean and Sam were reuniting with their other halves. Alyss and Emence were both terror stricken, and Cas heard Alyss' teary farewell to her protector. As immortals, Alyss and Ana had nothing to fear with the world ending, because they could just create another one, exactly like it. But this was the last time they would ever hold their loved ones again. The last time Emence would ever see her sister and her cousin. Because, even though they could create another world, they couldn't save the four people around them. As the three couples held each other for the last time, you could hear broken melodies from various tunes as more people accepted this was the last time they would hold each other.

"Hey, little girl, is your daddy home? Did he go and leave you all alone?" Dean was crooning into Emence's ear as she pulled him closer and they started swaying to the beat of a well-remembered tune. Emence was crying, and Dean was visibly trying to hold himself together, still trying to be the strong one.

"If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity why are you my clarity?" Alyss' voice was breaking as her wings extended behind her back. Sam tried not to notice her tears as his own fell and her wings enveloped them both, blocking out the cries of others around them.

For Ana and Cas, there was no silent resolve. No safe haven made of wings. Only the words of a tune Castiel could remember her singing around the kitchen as she made dinner for them on the nights that Dean, Sam, and himself were home. "So baby now, take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Place you head on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe we found love right where we are." As Castiel started swaying them in small circles, Ana hid her face in the front of his trenchcoat. Her normally lightening-kissed eyes were pure black, and tears streaked down her face. As he lifted her face and kissed her goodbye, Death extended his hand and ended it all.

For a brief second, all Alyss and Ana could see was a bright light surrounding the angels and demons fighting around them, and then nothing but darkness. Ana could still feel Castiel slipping from her grasp, could still hear her cousin's tortured scream as Sam was ripped away from her. It was this pain that forced her to rebuild everything that her father had created. It was the same pain that had Alyss moving to create a better life, and a better afterlife, even as her heart screamed in agony. The family that remained torn grasped at each other, and the girls' eyes met. Their resolve was fixed in their eyes as they began remaking the world, making it possible for them to reunite with their loves at one point in time, even if it took a thousand years.
