Marth and Zelda had both seen their last fighter lose his life before their eyes. Taboo had unleashed a series of waves, also known to the Smashers as his strongest move the Off Waves, and sent Sonic straight of the screen. They wanted to help, to make not all of their efforts for nothing, and they knew that every other lifeless body wished that they could get up and fight too. But they were all dead, corpses lying on the ground only able to see their comrades die as they were helplessly shaken from the impact of the Off Waves.
The words GAME OVER appeared on the screen, and all the Smashers crawled to their feet even though they were dead and the fight was over. Lost.
Now all the Smashers dull eyes without even a spark of hope as if they were dead, which they were, fixed onto Taboo. Taboo laughed maniacally as he spread his wings and irridescent glass "feather" shards flew into the spheres of their worlds.
The first to crumble was The Jungle. As all the Smashers saw the feathers enter the sphere and destroy the green lush jungle, Donkey Kong, who everyone expected would let out a rage of fury and try to punch Taboo, let out a cry of despair. Dede King stared at the ground depressed as tears sowly fell from his eyes.
The next to fall was the Battleship Halberd. "Poin," Kirby said sadly as he clutched Peach's ankle tightly. Sheik (just pretend Sheik and Zelda are two different people in this) gripped Peach's hand on the other side of Kirby and patted Peach's back while tears silently fell from her eyes.
All the other stages continued to crumble and one after another, they were destroyed just like the emotions of those who had passed through there before on their journey. Friends tried to comfort each other, to tell each other that everything will be all right even though they all knew that it wouldn't, while lovers confessed their love, kissed, and held on to each other to spend the time that they have left with each other, bittersweet by death, but at least happy that they would die together.
Marth held Zelda by the waist, her putting her arm around his too, as they looked at the world falling. Zelda saw Marth flinch during the apocalypse of Castle Siege. She knew that he was trying not to cry, and realized that she too, was doing just so. Zelda hugged Marth, and tears finally streamed out. "I love you, ever since we first battled side by side, I've always loved you even if I needed to protect you while you brush your hair in the middle of a fight," Zelda said, choking on her tears. The held in tears that Marth had kept from pouring out were now flowing silently too. He hugged her tighter when he felt that the platform they were standing on was starting to crumble too.
"I love you too. We fought together for so long, helped each other so many times, and defeated so many enemies together. Now we will die together."
The two held each other tightly and silently cried as the last sphere, the Midair Stadium where the journey had started, crumbled and they all fell into eternal nothingness.
