Nic: Hello everyone! This is my first Fullmetal Alchemist fic! I'm actually very happy with how it came out! So I'm going to stop blabbing around and let you read!

Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist or any of the characters. If I did, I would have filled at least twenty episodes with Royai and Edwin fluff.

Edward raced as fast as his little legs could carry him. 'Almost there!' he thought to himself. He mustered all of his strength and ran, if it was possible, faster. He ran up to a large tree and slammed his tiny hand on the bark, "I win!" He announced to the world. Then he laughed.

A laugh of pure innocence.

Edward waited not so patiently for his brother and friend to catch up. Finally the two made it to where Ed was standing.

"Ugh…" Winry groaned as she flopped down on the cool grass, while Alphonse placed one hand on the tree and caught his breath. All the while Edward was standing tall and proud, with a wide toothy smile.

"I beat you guys again!" He pointed out triumphantly.

"That's because you cheated Brother!" Alphonse finally spoke.

His voice reeked of pure innocence.

"Yeah! You started before us!" Winry added.

"Did not!" Edward retorted, "You guys are just sore losers!"

"Sore losers aren't as bad as sore winners!" Winry shot back as she stood up.

"I'm telling you I didn't cheat!" He pleaded.

"You did cheat!" Winry walked right up to Edward and jabbed a finger into his chest.

"Did not!" He stood his ground.

"Did so!"

"Did not!"

"Come on guys don't fight," Alphonse jumped into the argument.

"Fine!" Edward fumed. He turned around so his back was facing his brother and Winry.

"Fine!" Winry followed Edward's actions and turned her back on the two brothers.

No more than five seconds later Winry looked over her shoulder. Edward took a peek over his shoulder as well. Their eyes glared at one another for only a moment or so. Gentle blue eyes clashed with fierce golden ones.

Eyes full of pure innocence.

Finally the two fully turned around, and broke out into childish laughter.

"Ready for a rematch?" Winry asked her voice full of determination.

"Over to the river?" Edward asked.

"You're on!" Winry said, "Only start when I say go. Got it?"

Ed nodded with a stupid grin plastered to his face, "Got it!"

"Come on Al we're about to go!" Winry shouted. By the time Alphonse walked over to Winry, Edward was already halfway to the river.

"Ed!" Alphonse yelled.

"You said, 'Go'," Edward yelled over his shoulder. Alphonse and Winry, wasted no more time, and began to run as fast as they could.

Children's laughter rung out through all of Risembool.

Children of pure innocence.

Alphonse looked over at his brother. He was on his back in the train's seat, with one hand on his stomach, and the other acting as a makeshift pillow. Drool was slowly sliding out his slightly smiling mouth, and down his chin. Alphonse couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. The Fullmetal Alchemist was known throughout Amestris for his bravery, his skills in alchemy, and his temper. He certainly didn't look so powerful in his sleep.

Alphonse leaned forward slightly and wiped the saliva off of his face.

Edward opened his eyes.

Those eyes that were once filled with pure innocence, were now filled with tragedy and sorrow.

"Are we at Central yet?" He asked groggily.

"No brother," Alphonse replied, "We still have at least an hour to go."

Edward looked at his brother for a moment. Then he slowly laid back down, "Wake me when we're there..." The last word trailed off as Edward fell back asleep...

... Into his pure innocent sleep.

Nic: Crap that ending was hard to come up with! I still don't really like it... . I would greatly appreciate feedback. Thanks for reading!
