Before Her Birth

Like a bolt of lightning, she was instantly struck by Cupid's bow when she saw him. His pale blue complexion and dark navy hair glimmered against the light of the lanterns, which hung in the street. He was tall, even tall for a Kal'dorei, which made him stick out like a sore thumb. His eyes looked like they belonged to a feline, just like his long limbs which emphasized his graceful walk.

She inhaled deeply before exhaling. Pacing around in her head as she evaluated the best possible route in order to go up and speak to him. As she peered around the temple room she could see that many other Elven ladies, like herself, were quite obviously taking an interest in him. Some being more dignified about how they approach the man and some…. Not so much.

Sweeping her lilac hair out of her face and behind her ears hastily, she walked over to the pack of females who were sniffing up the young man like dinner. Joining them, she tried to squeeze forward and get a closer look at him, only to trip over her rose pink silk dress and fall knees and then head first into the mossy pit of grass, which she now saw as her doom.

Laughter and gasps erupted in the room after what seemed to be an eternity of silence. Squinting her face and clenching her fists in embarrassment she thought of what he thought of her, probably an idiot at that. She stuck her nose deeper in the grass, inhaling the earthy substance. Like a mole, she just wished she could burrow herself into the ground and disappear. Not even trying to get up she lay there with every piercing gaze on her.

Suddenly she felt a light but rather painful thump on her head. Looking up she saw a tall stature and gleaming Amber eyes looking down upon her quizzically.

"Are you going to get up?" He breathed, rolling his eyes at her seriously. Gulping, she scooted herself up. Looking down at her once fine robe she saw stains of green grass and rips by her kneecaps stained in green and brown from mud. Sighing she dusted herself off and bowed her head in shame.

The man, now looking more intimidating than handsome with his cat like eyes, placed his finger under her chin and lifted her face so she was gazing at him. Grabbing a lock of her hair he soothed it through his fingers tenderly. She twiddled with her thumbs nervously and felt she was blushing bright pink. He kept stroking her hair before coming to a halt and yanking a stick out. A yelp escaped her lips and an amused snort escaped his.

"Seems to me you're more tree than woman." He said in amusement, gaining many laughs and contributions to his comment by his other admirers. Even more embarrassed now, she slapped his hand away from her and looked up at him fiercely.

"Seems to me you're more pig than man." Silence swung across the room once more like a running wisp. Flipping her lilac hair, she gathered all the dignity she had left and stormed off with her head held high.
