"Oof!" Ash rubbed her now sore behind. She'd been knocked down so many times that it was no longer funny. "Easy Meliorn! Remember I'm still a beginner." The faerie grinned back at his hand held out to help her up and the other one clutched a long spear.
"Choose another weapon." Ash rolled her nearly black eye's and ran her hand through her completely white hair. She threw down the spear and scanned the weapons rack. "How many times do I have to do this?"
"Until you find the weapon that is for you." He replied from behind her.
"Try this." Came another voice from behind her. A servant walked a grand double-edged dagger that was decorated with the demonic runes she had spent so long learning about. "Its name is Athame."
"It's beautiful," Ash admired the gorgeous blade.
"It is a gift from your mother." The servant bowed as she passed the sword to her.
"Send her my thanks," Ash ordered and nodded for the servant to leave.
"Let us start again." Meliorn bent his knees and got into his is battle position, Ash did the same. "Don't forget to balance your weight." Ash did and felt the comfortable feel of Athame fit perfectly in her hand. Meliorn struck forward and with her heightened speed, Ash dodged his attack and used the hilt of Athame to make him topple over. "Easy Meliorn! I'm just a beginner." Ash teased her trainer.
"Your training has ended for the day." He bowed before walking off leaving the smiling Ash gazing down at her new blade. He father barely sent any gifts and this was a fine one indeed. Ash flipped it in the air and expertly grabbed the hilt and walked towards her room repeating the action.
A couple of hours later...
"Speak Meliorn." The Seelie Queen ordered looking down at the faerie.
"You have a visitor." The Queen gestured him on. "Jonathan Morgenstern." The Queen tensed yet continued to smile.
"Tell Ash to stay in her room, and welcome him in." Meliorn bowed his head and walked out of the room, only to return in a short time with Jonathan walking a few steps behind.
"Jonathan Morgenstern." She looked down at the dashing man, his red hair looked like fire and his bluish-green eye's started back at her expressionless. "What brings you to my realm this time?"
"Nothing of your concern." He replied. "I just simply ask for a place to rest."
"Most people would offer me something in return," she saw his mouth twitch slightly, "though you're the exception." The Queen turned to a servant. "Prepare a room for our guest." The faerie walked off. The doors opposite them burst open and with them came a familiar. "Seriously, what is your problem, I just gonna get some water." Ash walked into the throne room with a worried Faerie right behind her and stopped halfway. "Oh, forgive me," she looked at her mother's angry face. "someone didn't inform me you were busy." Ash shot a furious glance at the Faerie. Her mother gestured her away and Ash headed back to the door before the man who'd stood in front of her mother spoke. "Who is this?"
Ash turned around facing the man who was looking at her in a way that made her really uncomfortable though she tried not to show it. "This is no one." Ash face was a mix of surprise and hurt. Why did her mother say that and didn't bring up the fact that she was her daughter, usually, she'd flaunt it as if some kind of great feat.
"Strange that you'd have a Shadowhunter in your courts as if she lived here." His voice was almost accusing and the look he gave her mother looked like it could melt acid. Ash dropped her head and looked at the runes placed around her shoulders and wrists, like bracelets of black ink. "Wasn't it you who said that all Shadowhunter's should be destroyed and yet you keep one as your pet."
"Hey! I am not her pet you cow!" Ash shouted losing her temper. Her mother gave her a look that kept her mouth shut before she could say anything else. The man looked at her with an expression of longing. "Please return to your room Ash."
"Ash, is that what you called her?" The man glared at her mother again. "Too bad, I couldn't have been a part of it." What did he mean by that? Ash didn't know as she quickly backed out of the door.
A Week earlier...
"None of Merrick's clients have the Morning star sword." Jonathan rubbed his hand. "Though there's one name left, at least I think it's a name." His faerie companion looked over him.
"A-M-A-R-A." She read out.
"Amara?"
"Our Queen goes by many names, some not very well known."
"Do you think you can arrange a meeting with her highness?" Jonathan smiled.
"I can try." The faerie moved to the side. "Maybe we could visit your daughter while we're there."
"What?" The faerie gave a worried look.
"Never mind." She tried to shrug it off, but Jonathan grabbed her by the neck and pulled her forward.
"What daughter?" He growled.
"The daughter of you and the Seelie Queen. She didn't tell you?" Jonathan let her go, his expression softening and left the choking woman on the ground.
"I have a daughter," Jonathan muttered to himself. "I want to meet her." He looked out at the window and at the city below.
"I'll arrange a time." The faerie silently got off the floor and walked into the opposite room.
"Excellent." He smiled. He felt something he hadn't felt in a long time.
Present time...
"How dare you not tell me I have a daughter." Jonathan faced was one of pure rage.
"My apologies Jonathan," the Queen remained calm.
"I don't want your apologies," Jonathan growled. "I want my daughter!"
"I'm afraid I can't allow you to do that."
"I'm afraid you don't have much of a choice." Jonathan walked forward and the guards aimed their spears at him, though he didn't seem to care.
"Jonathan," the Seelie Queen stood up and walked down towards him, "surely we can talk this out like civilized people." Jonathan looked down at her with pure hatred.
"There's nothing to talk about, I am here to take what is rightfully mine."
"Don't forget that she is of faerie blood."
"My blood also runs in her veins." Jonathan clasped his hands at his sides. The Queen continued to smile at him and was now running her fingers around his neckline. "I can offer you a place to stay, but Ash stays here with me." Jonathan pulled the Queen's hand down, making her smile falter.
"She doesn't know who I am does she?" Jonathan's eyes didn't meet the Queen's.
"No," the Queen walked back to her throne. "She only knows her father left a long time ago, which is true isn't it?" Jonathan stopped himself from shouting at her again and instead kept his eyes on the floor.
"Our guest's room is ready." The servant had reappeared.
"You remember where your room is right..." The Queen asked, still grinning sweetly.
"I'm not sharing a bed with you!" Jonathan spat through gritted teeth.
"Very well then, I will sleep elsewhere." Jonathan walked out of the room and unclasped his hand to see he had cut the skin and blood was now underneath his fingers. He passed a door and stopped to look in and saw the girl he'd seen from before, his daughter, wielding a blade and slashing at thin air. Her reflexes were impressive, and stance was balanced out perfectly. She stood the way that fair folk would in battle though her technique was a lot like his and that made him smile. He stood there watching her slash with the seraph blade, a dagger, which he recognised as Athame, hung at her side. A gift from her mother probably. She had her mother's thin figure, he realized yet that gave her an advantage of being agile, though her short white hair didn't resemble either of her parent's. Ash spun around and saw the man from before standing in the doorway, she stopped and walked over the bench made of animal bones.
She had always found stuff like that extremely creepy. "Nice form." The man complimented.
"Thanks." Ash wiped her forehead with her towel. "Hey, I hope you don't mind me asking but, what were you and mu- the Seelie Queen talking?" She guessed that her mother hadn't told him who she was for a reason.
"Don't worry I know you're her daughter." He seemed to choke out the words. "And it was nothing important. Everything's fine." Ash shrugged and took a drink from her water bottle. Even though it was always sunny there but, yet her skin was always a pale white that clashes with her unusual hair. "You're new, here aren't you?"
"What makes you think that?"
"Well, I haven't seen you here before."
"It's been a while since I last visited." He seemed almost embarrassed by this, why, Ash didn't know.
"So, you're a Shadowhunter?" Ash motioned to his runes.
"Of a sort." He replied.
"What does that mean?"
"I was raised by Lilith and her blood runs in my veins but so does the angel's blood."
"Kind of like me," Ash replied excitedly.
"Yeah," Jonathan smiled at her and her excitement. Ash sighed and looked around the room, with the ivy clinging to the walls and many flowers decorated the furniture. "Hey, I'm going inside. Later." She waved goodbye and walked into the corridor.
