"Location: Richmond, Virginia, August 19th 2152"
It was a warm night in Richmond. Morgan (M) and Amber had to leave for business for a few days, so Lucina had went to watch over Iniabi and the palace while they were gone.
On that night, Iniabi had a nightmare and started crying. Lucina heard the crying and unwillingly snapped her eyes open. She almost immediately realized what was making the noises and sighed, allowing her eyes to drift shut briefly, before sitting up. Soon after, she stood up and put on a robe over her nightclothes. By then, the crying was much louder and coming from right outside the door to her guestroom. She sighed again before opening the door.
Iniabi sniffed miserably and rubbed at his eyes. His dressing gown was haphazardly put on, obviously having been pulled on by himself. Lucina stepped aside, allowing the boy to enter her guestroom. He did so quickly, pausing only slightly when Lucina put a hand on his hair and ruffled the navy blue stands gently. As she shut the door, she heard the creak of her bed, the young prince having jumped onto it.
"So, what was it tonight?" Lucina asked, barely restraining another sigh.
The boy hesitated.
"Nightmare." Iniabi replied.
Lucina raised an eyebrow.
"Another one? Honestly, Iniabi..." Lucina started to say.
"I'm telling the truth!" Iniabi said.
Lucina sat down beside him on the bed, crossed her legs, and looked down at the boy.
"Alright, alright. I believe you. What was it about this time?" Lucina asked.
iniabi pulled his legs up on the bed, before leaning into his aunt's side.
"It... wasn't anything too terrible. But it made me... really sad." Iniabi replied.
"Oh?" Lucina asked.
Iniabi nodded, before wrapping his arms around her waist and hugging.
"You see... it was like... you didn't..." Iniabi started to reply.
"Yes?" Lucina asked.
"You didn't like me... anymore." Iniabi replied quietly.
That got Lucina's attention. She quickly squeezed him with her arms wrapped around the boy.
"I know it was preposterous and all... but... it still made me sad." Iniabi said.
Lucina looked down at the prince and was rather surprised to see his wide emerald eyes staring up at her. She cleared her throat and looked away.
"Aunt Lucina?" Iniabi asked, his tone uncharacteristically quiet.
"Hm?" Lucina asked.
"Can I stay the rest of the night in here?" Iniabi asked.
Lucina shifted slightly, trying to pull away from the boy, who only gripped her robe tighter. Eventually, she gave up.
"Iniabi, remember what I've told you." Lucina replied.
"I know, I know. It's "improper"." Iniabi said. He then bit his lip, looked up, and asked "Please? Just for a little while?".
Lucina thought herself weak, but she sighed again and nodded. Iniabi once again glued himself to her side and laid his head against her rib cage. After a few seconds, his eyes fluttered shut as he drifted off to sleep.
"Goodnight, Aunt Lucina." Iniabi said happily.
Lucina didn't move for several minutes. Her eyes remained focused on the wall across from her bed, with her nephew's words continuing to echo in her head. Iniabi's small hands squeezed her robe slightly, as he pulled himself closer to her. Lucina's looked down at his sleeping face, a hand hovering over his sleep-ruffled hair. Finally, she gave in, allowing her fingers to comb through his hair.
There was no way she would betray her own nephew. It was simply outrageous.
