Table Manners

She arrives, assured in her own glory, her flaxen locks contrasting nicely against her emerald dress. From the trees she spies several dozen eyes. The wind picks up and they creep closer. Small in stature with hairy feet and gaily colored clothes, they peer at her with an intelligent look in their eyes.

She recognizes them with a delighted cry. "Hobbits!" says she. The rest of her speech is drowned out by the sound of crunching bone and teeth tearing flesh.

Tolkien did an admirable job at translating the world of Middle Earth into novel form; however, he did forget to mention an important fact. Hobbits like their meat rare.
