Hey everyone! My band class and I were on a field trip and on the hour long bus drive I became insanely bored, and this was the result. This is my first attempt at a poem (and we haven't started our poetry unit in English yet so basically I have no idea what I'm doing) so please be gentle! I'm very sensitive. Reviews are like candy and I have a major sweet tooth. Leave one for me and I'll give you a virtual cookie. Oh and this is based off the episode What Is and What Should Never Be, the one where Dean is kidnapped and sent to an alternate dimension.
All mistakes are my own
Disclaimer: I unfortunately do not own Supernatural. If I did there would be a whole lot more shirtless scenes.
What Never Should Be
Dean woke in a strange, new bed,
Thinking all those drinks had gone to his head.
A woman unknown lay by his side,
Behind dark, wavy hair her face did hide.
Dean dashed out of the room to grab his cell,
Hoping Sam was alive and well.
His brother answered the call and he thought Dean was drunk.
At that moment Dean realized Sam didn't remember the hunt.
The monster they were hunting was called a djinn,
With an air of confidence, he'd thought they'd win.
The djinn had poisoned him and he felt himself fall,
But after that he remembered nothing at all.
He started to search for sulfur and salt,
But what he saw next forced him to a halt.
On the table sat a picture of his murdered kin,
He looked at the frame and saw what could have been.
He rushed to the place he once called home,
The same place where his mother meet her doom.
Mary stared at her son in concern.
His mother was alive, that was the only fact he could learn.
Later that day, Sam and Jess arrived,
At this point in time it truly sunk in that his brother was alive.
He learned that Sam was studying pre-law,
He was so proud he wanted to bawl.
This was the life he wanted for his little brother,
An apple pie life, safe with his mother.
But then he thought of all the people they saved.
It was of the little victories their life was made.
Dean knew he had to get back,
Back to his real brother to pick up the slack.
He went out to find the djinn again,
He was with the other victims in his den.
Dean didn't know what to do.
Was there some magic portal to walk through?
Then he remembered the old wives tale say,
If you kill yourself in a dream, you'll wake up perfectly okay.
The hunter knew he had to die,
But he couldn't stop himself from thinking, "why?"
What if he stayed?
What if he lived the life they made?
Then he thought of all those victims again,
Without the Winchesters, they would not win.
He posed the knife, ready to strike,
But then he heard a voice call out with all its might.
His family appeared before him and stood in his way,
They all begged and pleaded for him to stay.
"I'm sorry," he said.
As he stabbed himself, Sam was the only thing that ran through his head.
As Dean awoke, it occurred to me,
There are some things that never should be.
