Bella's Day's of Terror
Tuesday October 14th
I woke up to the sound of the fire alarm. Mom was trying to make pancakes again. I jumped out of bed and ran through the hallway, down the stairs and to the kitchen. Mom was rummaging through the cabinet to find the fire extinguisher.
"Mom, what happened here?" Although I already knew the answer I thought it would be best to ask.
"I was just making the pancakes, then I went outside to get the paper, the next thing I knew the kitchen was in flames!"
"You left the stove on didn't you?" I asked as I lifted the extinguisher from the mess and squeezed the "handle things" as I called them. Soon, the fire was gone and mom threw what seemed to be the pancakes in the trash.
"Well, I forgot that it was on when I left."
"How long were you gone?" I asked
"Five minutes. Here let me get you some cereal." She said.
"Thanks." I said.
After I finished my cereal I went up to my room and threw on my jeans and the tee shirt I got over the weekend. It was red with lace around the sleeves and the bottom. Mom thought I should get, because it highlighted my "pretty darkish-reddish-brownish hair."
"Mom what time is it?" I yelled down the stairs.
"About 7:00, why?" She answered naively.
"Why? Because the bus is leaving in five minutes and I haven't done my hair, or made my bed or even brushed my teeth yet!" Before my mom could respond I sprinted across the hall, to my bathroom. I grabbed my toothbrush, and the mint flavored paste, while stroking the brush against my teeth I got my hairbrush and started stroking frantically. When I had finished rinsing my mouth out I looked around the room in attempt to find my lucky headband. It was dark blue with a twisted purple line running across it.
After that, I ran downstairs to get my book bag and my shoes on.
"I'm so sorry Bella, if I hadn't tried to make those pancakes I wouldn't have made you late."
"Mom, it's totally fine. I forgot to set my alarm last night anyway. It's my own fault." My reassurance seemed to calm her down. I checked my wristwatch, it was 7:05.
"I'll make you're bed for you." She said. Mom seemed to always know if I hadn't done anything, like making my bed.
"Thanks, Gotta go mom. Love you." I said as I ran out of the door and started toward the bus stop. The bus hadn't showed up yet, thank god!
Both of the other kids at the stop were been there. Their names were, Charlotte and Ben. Charlotte had bleach blonde hair and always seemed to never wear the same outfit twice.
Ben, was the Captain of the football team and was not afraid to say it. He was very popular among the girls. With his sandy blonde hair and his emerald eyes, I couldn't really blame them. I spotted the bus it was just around the corner. I took a deep breath and got ready for another day at Calvert High School.
