Edit: I highly suggest looking this song up on YouTube and listening to it while reading.

There once was a peaceful kingdom that resided on the top of a mountain. It's ruler's name was Alfred Jones. He wanted eternal peace for his citizens, and the world surrounding him.

Below the kingdom, there was a village full of easily-angered, and easily-offended people. They lived in the valley and the shadow of the peaceful, beloved kingdom, so they were referred to as the valley-folk.

The valley had heard rumors about a treasure of enormous value hidden deep in the kingdom's clutches. Once they confirmed it, they declared that they'd have that treasure and over-shadow the kingdom for once and for all.

The valley-people's ruler, Ivan Braginsky, sent a messenger up the mountain with a note demanding for the treasure. The valley was confident that the peaceful kingdom would hand it over to them without problem, especially if they mentioned that they'd start a war for it.

Then the messenger returned. Alfred had offered to share the secrets and riches of the mountain with their brothers in the valley. He did not, however, expect the reaction he got.

The valley was angered by their neighbor's insolence, so they rounded up all the bravest men and stormed the kingdom, killing everyone and everything, Ivan being the one to kill the peaceful King. They cheered when every last inhabitant had been murdered, and they cheered louder when Ivan announced that the treasure was theirs.

The valley people walked to where the treasure was said to have been hidden. Ivan and his first mate, Mathias, flipped the heavy stone over. On the other side, there were some words carved deep into the stone: "Peace on Earth". The valley-people found no other treasure that day, and they had already destroyed the one that the kingdom had been willing to share.

Edit: Thanks to a suggestion from a reader, I have been reminded that actually including lyrics in a song-fic is against the rules, so I have removed them.

So, there is an actual song called 'One Tin Soldier'. It was written in the 1960's by Dennis Lambert & Brian Potter, and it was written to protest America's involvement in the Vietnam War.

The source of my writing this story, or in fact hearing these words, was not this song, however.

You see, I go to Girl Scout camp during the summer times. One of the songs we sing at the farewell ceremony is called 'One Tin Soldier', and is sung exactly how it is written above. I am aware that the song is slightly different from this version, but I like this version a lot better. The song is much faster and the lyrics aren't sung the same as I'm used to.

Short story, strong message.

I hope you enjoyed! I'll be updating a lot today (band camp starts tomorrow!) and I plan to update and post as much as I possibly can!

-I do not own Hetalia or the lyrics of this song or the song!-
