Save Your Ammunition
It's sort of brilliant how fast Mini falls.
She's never let herself go this completely but she finds it's the only thing that kills that ache in her chest. She doesn't want to be Mini McGuinness anymore and so she drinks and drinks until it consumes her and she can be anyone she wants to be. She sits on their laps because they call to her and they tell her she's pretty. Sometimes she even lets them pull her down the hall and have their way with her, but she doesn't see them. She laughs and laughs and tosses her blond hair over her shoulders. Her beauty is the only thing she has and god damn she will wring it for everything its worth. Their faces waver and blur at the edges of her vision, never more than another breath of air on her neck.
Each time she finds her its like a light in the darkness.
"Oh, Mini..."
Franky's voice is full of confusion and sadness and just a little bit of pain.
"Why...?"
Mini can't explain it and so she kisses the broad lips on her right with as much vigour as she can muster. They taste like spliff and vodka and vomit and she wipes her face sloppily with the back of her hand as Franky stares. Her stomach turns but her lips widen into a bright smile.
"Franky baby," She laughs and shakes her head from side to side. "What are you doing... here?"
"Mini." She shakes her head and Mini knows that means its time to go. Sometimes she resists because its not fair, not at all. (Who does she think she is to push herself back into her mind when she finally gets her out out out?)
But tonight she is tired and she lets Franky pull her up, ignoring the cat calls and disappointed groans of the blurs behind her.
Franky's arms are the warmest she's ever felt and Mini thinks maybe its her favorite place in the whole world. Franky tucks her into bed Mini lets her get all the way to the door before she calls her back. She's not ready for her to go because right now her head is still spinning and she doesn't have to be Mini McGuinness yet, not yet. Franky crawls into bed beside her and Mini presses her body as close as she can.
"Mini," Franky whispers, and Mini knows whats coming.
"I'm not Mini now." She says firmly and tucks her chin into the crook of Franky's shoulder.
Franky sighs.
"You're always Mini to me."
Her heart flutters but her stomach turns and she puts the thoughts out of her head that are far too rational.
"I'm not Mini now." She says again, and does what Mini McGuinness can not. She presses her lips against Franky's, searching desperately for something she only ever finds here.
Franky breathes in, and Mini knows its not fair. It's not fair that she can love so completely what Mini McGuinness cannot want.
"I love you," she murmurs, and the words sound foreign to her ears. She touches Franky's face, runs her hands over every inch before it's gone again. Her fingertips come away wet.
"I know," Franky's voice is a whisper.
A tear slips from Mini's tired eye.
"But I'm not Mini now."
A/N: Unbeta'd. I was feeling bittersweet, and that is Minky to me.
I posted this on my old account a long time ago, but I'm getting rid of it so I'm moving my favorite pieces here.
