I do not own Merlin. This is in Merlin's Point Of View.

In The Stocks

By waterrain

You would think people would get tired of throwing rotten fruits and vegetables at the same person, but no they did not get sick and tired of it. They have no idea it takes time and effort to get rid of the smell. Even when I use my magic it barely gets rid of that rotten smell.

Being in the stocks is not fun, but best not to sulk about it. Better to have a smile and laugh about it. I image Arthur being in the stocks instead of me. Needless to say I keep myself entertained with that thought. So yes, It is quite easy to laugh and smile when imaging Arthur being locked in the stocks instead of me.

I know the people here by name. They know my name and in between the whole throwing of rotten food we talk to one another. The people gathered here are children, women, and a few men.

"What did you do this time, Merlin?" Is the common question.

"Don't you get tired of being locked up in the stocks?" Is another common question and I reply with a cheerful "At least I'm still alive."

I would rather be in the stocks than have my head chopped off or being burned alive. Yes, The stocks are quite lovely compared to the fate of death. Everyone is laughing, throwing rotten food, asking me questions, giggling, and so on.

"Merlin, Your time is up." The Guard told me and I was released. There goes my bit of fame until next time for I'm positive there will be a next time since I'm dealing with royalty.

One little comment is enough to set them off and it is not like I called Arthur 'fat'. I just said that he should eat more apples instead of pork and of course Arthur took it the wrong way. It is not like I called him 'The Future Porky King' or anything. Arthur is not fat, but he might become that if he does not stop having snacks in the middle of the night.

"Merlin, Have you learned your lesson yet?" Arthur asked me and his arms were crossed.

"It is not like I called you the future porky King. I just said you should eat more apples, Prince Arthur." I informed him. His face was red, he had that look, and said "Merlin!" in a loud voice. I believe Arthur is upset with me. He is really touchy.

Once again I'm back in the stocks and the people gathered there asked "What did you do this time?" again. I was barely out for five minutes. I might as well call the stocks my home at this rate.
