She broke your heart with her bitter gaze as she rejected your meager proposal in exchange for that of another – a man with a surname and bank account greater than yours.
Looking back at it, can you blame her? Did you think she'd trade in her pretty, pampered lifestyle to struggle with you – a penniless Auror, climbing his way through the ranks in hopes of something better?
She never shared your desire to fight the injustices rampant in your world. Though, her upbringing conditioned her to believe in purity above all. Toujours pur. And you are far from pure with your ideologies.
But dammit, you fell. You fell hard. Everyone told you to stay away. The relationship was doomed from the start. She could never be yours. Your friends pushed you toward more suitable women - Emmeline and Amelia. But they didn't shine as bright as your darling daffodil.
It was the best two years of your life, watching the light seep through the cracks of her icy interior. She opened up to you - shared everything with you.
All these years later, you still can't let go. Yes, she loved you, but what does a sixteen-year-old know about love anyway?
And now, you watch her, gliding about the dance floor, radiant in a stunning emerald gown. She's the most beautiful witch in the room. The men flock to her like moths to the flames, burned by their desire. You won't let yourself fall back into that trap. You're done.
But, she's single now – finally done with that pompous prat. Perhaps there's hope for you yet.
