I am L. And I am the greatest detective in the world. It was no small feat to become this good. It took a lot of hard work and determination to hone my skills. Why did I go through all this, you ask? With my strong sense of justice, I could have been a lawyer. But what no lawyer gets to do is the successful capture of a criminal. Why, you ask, am I so bent on capturing criminals? Because, it is important to me that those who do wrong see justice. It is important that they are made to pay for their crime. But not with their own life. Why waste a precious life? But make no mistake, they need to atone for their crime.
Whenever someone kills another, or several others, by accident or on purpose, it affects everyone. Maybe someone that was killed has a child. Now, the child will have to grow up not knowing the love of a mother or father. Maybe someone was about to be married. Now their fiancee will forever have a piece of his heart broken, for the marriage he never had. The neighbors will never see them watering their lawn in the house across the street. Another neighbor has to find someone new to watch their pets when they go on vacation. Any surviving kids are also affected too. Death of a relative turns some people cold and mean. They have trouble at school, or trouble with friends. If a child dies, they will never find what they call "true love." They will never learn to drive a car. The kids in their class wonder where their desk buddy went. And when they find out, their lives are affected too. One death begins a chain of broken hearts, lost smiles, and tears shed. One criminal caused the misery of hundreds of others. That is why they must pay, and that is why I must capture them. Most importantly, I must capture Kira. He himself has become a criminal, impacting the lives of all who have ever opposed him. He must be brought to justice.
AN Today, the coach of the freshmen girl's volleyball team walked into the gym. Our JV team was talking, and our coach took their coach aside. Later, she let us know that the freshmen coach's mother was in a shooting at work in Seal Beach today. Her mom survived, but seven others did not and one is still left in critical condition. The police have captured the suspect and think that he and a worker were involved in a custody dispute. This got me to thinking about how one criminal's actions can change the life of so many others. RIP to those that died, and send good thoughts to the families, friends, neighbors, and everyone else involved in the lives of these people. May this never happen again.
