Although her name isn't mentioned, this is meant to be Eowyn thinking these things.

I don't own Rohan or Eowyn….Tolkien does…

Rohan

'Ere shadow came to claim our hearts,

There was gladness in these parts,

The grasses swaying merrily,

Like waves upon the distant sea.

On these fields our horses forage,

And by the brooks the flowers flourish.

Our people are loyal, as the day is long,

Their gallant deeds remembered in song,

In friendship we never fail,

The Horse-lords with the shining mail.

See the golden meadows, far-reaching,

Heed the wind of youth, beseeching,

Check girth and gather reins,

Let us ride across the plains!

But we don't sing as we did before,

Of valiant deeds in days of yore.

Grief still lies thick on our minds,

With too many soldiers left behind.
