You say Kira won't win because he's a bad guy and bad guys always lose. But Kira is a bad guy like no other. He walks the grey area so well you can't tell if it's really grey or some trick of light that makes it look grey when it's really white. Or maybe he treads so lightly on it you can't see the bloodprints he leaves.

Kira could be anyone. Anyone smart enough to challenge the police and L, and sneaky enough to hide from them. He( She?) could be your neighbour next door, who never says anything more to you than the occasional good morning, and couldn't possibly know your full name (right?). He could be the student rushing his homework on the bus because he stayed up all night killing people. He could be the nice old lady from the market who gives you an extra apple, because didn't apples have something to do with sin?

You know you shouldn't be worried because you didn't do anything wrong, didn't have something to do with a homicide or murder of kidnapping of small children. But you can't help but be careful, pick up the trash you saw on the ground. Help that old lady cross the street, carry her bags for her. Be nicer to people.

You know you didn't do anything, but you do so anyway, because for all you know one day Kira might get bored and start killing people who jaywalk or something.

And then you notice that the people around you have started to be careful too. And then you realise, that Kira is really changing the world. Crime rates have dropped drastically, because no one makes a move when Kira is here. The world is moving forward now, walking into a new era.

Then you stop and reevaluate what you have learned, and then think that, maybe, that Kira fellow isn't so bad after all.

And that's the how the vicious cycle starts again.

Kira is anything but stupid.

He sees the cycle, uses it, turns it to his advantage. He makes people see it, how the world changes, and thus gets more support, and then, he gets more powerful.

Kira is close to legendary, even closer to being God, as the way his followers see him.

'Did you hear what Kira did yesterday-'

'Hey, did you read that theory that Kira is actually-'

'-Kira is so cool!'

'Did you know that Kira likes apples and-'

Kira, Kira, Kira.

He's all around you, and closer than you might think.

And you don't why, but somehow you can imagine him, twirling a pen somewhere in the dark, plotting murders. He watches the TV, writes down the information he needs, and smirking, he bites into an apple.

The next day another criminal is found dead and you feel a shiver up your spine. You put down your morning paper and look at the young lad in front of you on the train. You catch his eye, but you look away quickly, because you saw an apple in his hand. You look back a few seconds later, thinking that what, you were afraid of him hurling a fruit at you? Are you really so superstitious?

Your station is here, and you decide to sneak on last look at the apple in his hands, just for confirmation that not everyone who eats apples is Kira.

You turn your head just in time to see it vanish into thin air.

Well this was something lying around in my drafts so I thought, why not publish it?

Please review, and if I did anything wrong, feel free to point me out :)
