Hi! This is my 50th story on here so I decided to try a plotline that I dislike a lot as a challange. I didn't go into much detail and I'm quite pleased that I didn't really change canon, except the epilogue.
I'd really like some feedback on this as, as I said this isn't a plot I have ever attempted. Thanks.

James Potter has black hair and brown eyes. He gets the hair from his father anf the eyes from from his mother.
James Sirius Potter was two months old when he vanished.
Everyone had their theories; for instance his father thought that it was an enemy from work.
Some even thought that it had been parental negligence that lost him. But anyone who had seen the three together knew how much love that family had had for their child.

Charlus and Dorea Potter were already quite elderly when they found the baby by the side of the narrow pathway leading into the village.
He was tangled in blankets and sucking on a wooden rabbit's ear. He had a tuft of black hair and big brown eyes. Around his neck was a silver necklace with JAMES printed on it in blocky letters.
He was cute personified and the couple fell in love straight away.
Still they took him down to the village and asked around but no one had had a child recently, indeed there hadn't been any new arrivals for years.
They took him home instead and little James wormed his way into their hearts and lives all too quickly. And after a month they took down the posters calling for news, reasoning that if the parents couldn't be bothered to look then they probably didn't deserve the darling.
And so James Sirius Potter became James Charlus Potter.
The couple never told their son he was adopted and anyway he looked a lot like his adoptive mother. And they were the closest-knit family you could ever find.
It was love as pure as if he were their own.

Ginny and Harry Potter were never entirely sure if they should try for a child again but a year later when they discovered Ginny was pregnant and nine months later when Harry held Albus James in his arms for the first time they knew it was the right thing to do. They were beginning to heal at long last.
They never did discover what happened to their first child though and they never stopped searching for him they lived long and happy lives all the same.
And if there is an afterlife then I would think it was all sorted out and both sets of parents were happy with their son.
