"Stefan! Stefan!" Caroline called from the laundry room of the boarding house.

"What?" he asked walking into the room.

"Did you do my laundry?" she asked annoyed.

"Uh, yeah. No need to thank me."

"No need to thank you? You could have messed it all up! You can't wash this, with this." she said holding up two shirts. "This one is dark and this one is light."

"Caroline there is special soap for that now, it doesn't matter."

"That's just a lie by these companies to make you buy their product. These fabrics are sensitive, Stefan!"

"Oh, come on you're being ridiculous." he said with a small laugh.

"Shut up. You're so-"

They were interrupted by the sound of the door shutting. Caroline went to it suspiciously only to discover that it was locked from the outside.

"Hello." she yelled knocking on the door. "Let us out!"

"Sorry, Care. Not until you two figure out what's going on between you guys." came Elena's voice.

"Fine then, I'll just break it down." Caroline said confidently.

"I don't think so. I might have put a spell on it." Bonnie answered through the door.

"Do you see what you did?" Caroline asked turning back to Stefan.

"Me?" He asked shocked.

All she did was sigh as she sat up on the dryer. "This is going to be a long night."

Time passed slowly and neither of them spoke. After Caroline had turned her humanity back on things between her and Stefan had gotten tense. He tried to talk to her about the kiss, and about their feelings. Before she flipped the switch that's that's all she could think about, the conversation with Stefan that would change everything. Now, she feared it.

"You know we could just take about it." Stefan finally broke the silence.

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Caroline, just tell me how you're feeling. We haven't been the same since…"

"Since I turned it off. Yeah, well I remembered what it's like to feel." she looked down at her feet.

"I told you how I feel, well I tried to at least. You stopped me everytime. You need to know. I need to know what you want and if this is something." he walked over to her.

"And what if it's not something?" she looked up at him. "What if one day you wake up and realize this was a mistake and I'm left alone without a best friend?"

Stefan rested his hands on top of the dryer, so close to her that he was almost touching her thigh. "I get it. Trust me I do. The only two times I have been in love in 168 years I got left heartbroken."

"I would never hurt you, Stefan."

"Then why are you afraid of me?"

"I'm not afraid of you. I'm afraid of hurting again. Of being alone." she admitted.

"I have no intentions of letting you be alone."

"Everything just happened at once. We kissed and it was everything I had dreamed about, and I was happy. But then my mom died and I felt guilty about kissing you during her last moments. But then I know it wasn't your fault or mine. I didn't know when her last moment might be. I guess what I realize is I don't regret that we kissed." she let out the breath that she had been holding.

"So, what is going on between us?" he asked moving in so close that they only inches from each other.

Caroline answered by capturing his lips with hers.

"Should I tell Elena we figured it out?" he asked pulling away.

"Not yet." she smiled
