The Wolves of New Terra
Prologue
The human race had left Earth. Pollution had made Earth's environment no longer livable, so they went out in search of a planet that had the potential to support human life. For years, they searched, but to no avail. Finally, they found a planet that looked suitable, with two continents on it. The humans entered the planet's atmosphere and landed their ships on one of the continents. They began to unload their supplies, then started to build temporary housing. Once this was completed, the passengers disembarked and moved their belongings into them.
On the other side of the planet, the Kyiyu, a race of extremely intelligent wolf-like creatures, were assembling a pack meeting. The meeting took place in a valley with cliffs surrounding it, and the Kyiyu came in through a narrow path. Their Alpha, Lightfang, an enormous gray wolf with blue markings was deciding if these new creatures were a threat to the pack. He came out and the pack quieted down immediately.
"I have decided that we will send out scouts to further study these new creatures." Lightfang said. "Shadowpaw! As you have exceptional hearing you will lead the scouts."
Shadowpaw, a black wolf in the Beta position that had grey stripes stepped forward. He could hear everyone whispering about him, and shifted from paw to paw uncomfortably.
Lightfang selected the rest of the ten scouts that would be sent out to the other continent and told them to gather in his hut to discuss his plan. Afterwards, he sent them off on their journey to discover what these new creatures were.
