Sam slowly closed her eyes as she felt herself slip into dreamland where she was walking through a beautiful field with bright blue flowers and high grass that tickled her bare legs and feet.
The sun warmed her face and a soft wind played with her long blond shining hair; caught by the sun's rays.
She smiled. There he was; her dad. He stood talking to George Hammond, Janet laughing at something he said. A single tear trickled down her cheek but she was happy as she heard his warm laugh. There was no pain, only love. He's okay now; he's at ease. And he'll always be watching over her.

Jack carefully opened his cabin door, avoiding its usual annoying creek and a sad smile crept on his face as he saw Sam sleeping on his sofa. It had only been yesterday Jacob had passed away and all she had wanted was to be brought here. He had gone into town to get her some basic stuff to make her comfortable. As he tiptoed closer, he noticed she held a piece of paper in her hand. He lovingly gazed at her and took the paper from her hand and read it:
Dad,
I dreamed about you last night. About you and Jack. You were walking on a path to heaven. He saw you were tired and that no cure was to be. He held you dad, put his arms around you and said: "com'ere" and he carried you to God. You didn't go alone; a part of me went with you.
He sat next to me, dad, as I watched you fade away; as your golden heart stopped beating. He's with me; always.
Don't worry for me dad, I'll be just fine.
I love him, God I love him.
Thanks dad for showing me the way I never thought possible.
I miss you. Goodbye, dad.
Jack's eyes watered and though he felt a deep loss, her love warmed him. He'd do anything to make her happy, to make the burden lighter. He bend down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I love you too, Sam. Always."
