This is from the fanzine, "Reflections in Amber". The main character, Shaura Ke-Arr, is a wild telepath, something her people are not familiar with. She goes to Vulcan to learn how to control her ability. When she leaves Vulcan to go on in her life, she calls her teacher, Sanek, her friend. This is his reply.

Sanek's Reply

I told you Vulcans have no friends -
And I believed it true.
But now I find this place is filled
With memories of you.

Your quick and ready wish to learn
Fulfilled my wish to teach.
But soon I found I must withdraw
Somewhere you could not reach.

We are too different, you and I -
Our cultures worlds apart.
My people learned to touch the mind,
But yours can touch the heart.
