When Pigs Fly

"Every Amu has her Ikuto, ever Kukai has his Utau, and every Rima has her Nagihiko. But did she? No. She had no one."

—Yoru no Mukou

(The Other Side of Night)

We were made to be wanted. We were made to be loved, and to love. But for her, as she soon realized, being wanted in a world where everyone already had someone was hard.

Every Amu has her Ikuto, ever Kukai has his Utau, and every Rima has her Nagihiko. But did she?

No.

She had no one.

"Yaya!" Amu cried, snapping the girl back into reality. "Geez, what's got you staring into space every second?"

She smiled, a fake one, but a smile all the same, "Nothing~!"

She had no one, and it was better if no one knew she felt alone. She'd find someone, someday, that's what she'd always tell herself.

And maybe one day pigs will fly, she always thinks afterwards.

"I'm worried," Amu announced during one of the Guardians meetings where Yaya had called in sick.

Tadase eyes lit up a bit at what Amu was saying, "About Yaya. She isn't herself. Something's wrong with her…"

"I've noticed that too," Rima admitted, the other Guardians agreeing.

Tadase stared at them. He felt like laughing at himself for being so stupid.

Here he thought they were worried about him, but of course like many things, he was wrong.

Like the chance of Amu liking him.

"I haven't seen her Character, either…" Nagihiko muttered aloud.

Perceptive as always, hm, Nagihiko? Yet. You haven't seen mine either, Tadase thought. That of course raises no question, does it?

"I wonder what's got her so upset…" Amu trailed, "It isn't family troubles is it?"

Of course. It's always the family that makes a person depressed. Tadase then did something he thought he'd never do to a person; he shot Amu a dirty look. It's you all, and your sickening lovey-dovey-ness. Honestly. It's enough to make me…..

He blinked.

feel the same way…

"Yaya." Tadase said, cornering the girl in an empty classroom. "You've been skipping Guardians meetings for two weeks straight. And you've been avoiding everyone. What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing," she muttered. "Now can you—"

"It's not nothing, Yaya." Tadase said, grabbing her arm. "I know what you're going through…."

"Really?" She laughed dryly. "How can you possibly know?"

"I know you feel left out," he said. "Like you don't fit in the world, like you'll forever be the only person among us without someone. I think me of all people would know."

A few drops of tears fell from her face. "I just…."

"Shh," he murmured, hugging her. "I know, I know."

"It's not fair," she continued. "Amu has Ikuto, Rima has Nagihiko, and Kukai has U-Utau. Who will I have, Tadase?"

"You'll have me."

She looked up at him, his face blurred from her tears. "R-really? You, p-promise? You won't go off and fall in l-love with s-someone else?"

He closed the gap between them, placing his chin on the top of her head. "I promise. I'll only ever love you, Yaya. I swear."

She stood on her tippy-toes, planting a chaste kiss on his lips, and then pulled away. And he swore, as she kissed him, his heart jumped.

Then, she began to laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"Out the window," she murmured. "What is that, in the sky, I mean."

He squinted, smiling. "I think that's a pig. A flying pig."

Haha, I love using cliché statements. When pigs fly, I'll stop eating choc—wait. I don't trust pigs (or scientists), so I'll not say that. Instead, I'll say, Yaya x Tadase all the way?! :-P
