Hello everyone!
I have been thinking, since I am taking forever with my next chapter of "The Spell caster's staff." I decided to make a little something for the holidays. So over the last half an hour, I have converted a wonderful Christmas story into one told from the view of Bartimaeus. I present to you, "Twas the night before Christmas" – Barty Style.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Bartimaeus: Twas the night before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the street
Not a spirit was stirring, not even an Afrit;
One stocking was hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Nathaniel would soon get his share;
My master was nestled snug in his bed,
While visions of glory flashed through his head;
His servants were busy, guarding the house,
Like I, watching carefully quiet as a mouse.
When out in the street there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my post to see what was the matter.
I reached the balcony in a quick dash,
Tore open the glass door and changed form in a flash.
The moon light shined on the newly ploughed street,
the sight was amazing, and impossible to beat.
When, what to my eagle sharp eyes should appear,
But 8 Djinni, in the form of 8 tiny reindeer
They pulled a sleigh, which held lots of toys,
To distribute to different girls and boys.
In the back of the sleigh was a man,
He yelled, and called their names, he began;
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the house! Or it's the shrivelling fire!
Now dash away! Dash away, more height we require!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top in a flash they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and a fat magician too.
And then, there was a sound I traced to the roof,
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
I ran downstairs in a short, quick bound,
Down the chimney St. Nick flew making no sound
I jumped to the to the ground in mock horror,
As a detonation flew over the floor;
"Sorry, you startled me." He said with a grin,
And he laid down some presents with a quick spin.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
He was defiantly good at his guises I admit,
But he lacked my wonderful, quick thinking wit;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
"smoking is bad for you" I said, looking down at my feet;
He chuckled, and slapped my back with a laugh,
Unaware he had split my nerve population in half.
He filled the stockings in a quick blur,
"There are a million houses left, you should go sir;"
This time he caught the jealousy in my voice,
He gave a wink, and seemed to rejoice;
"I have a present for you too, Bartimaeus" he said,
my expression softened, as I tilted my head.
He handed me a present, and flashed a quick smile
Merry Christmas Bartimaeus, I won't see you for a while;
Then he rose up the chimney, and stepped into his sleigh
And away they all flew, while on the porch I stared in dismay.
But I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
