It was a dark and stormy afternoon. There was thunder and lightning, and hail as well. All of the Shinsengumi members as well as Chizuru, all stayed huddled together in the meeting room, having a conversation about their rounds that day. As they all spoke, Chizuru sat there sipping her tea, trying to listen to their conversation, while trying to ignore the very loud thunder outside. She shivered a bit whenever she heard the thunder. "No, I'm really telling you the truth Shinpatchi-san; I took all 5 on my own!" Harada and Shinpatchi laughed. "You're such a liar, Heisuke!" He ruffled his hair.
A loud clap of thunder suddenly ruined the mood. All of the samurais calmly look continued sipping on their tea. Chizuru bit her lip from screaming because of the noise. Truth be told, Chizuru was actually afraid of thunder. Ever since she was little, and her father had to go out for a couple of hours, it would thunder like crazy, leaving poor little Chizuru all by herself. "Check out the weather outside." Okita said, as he laid his tea back on the ground. "Someone's not happy." Hijikata rolled his eyes. Saitou sighed. "A samurai from the Shinsengumi shouldn't be afraid of something like thunder." Chizuru held back her gasp. 'What...What would they think if I had cried out in fear? Would they tell me to get lost?' Chizuru pondered.
Lightning could be seen through the door screen, and even though Chizuru shook the tea in her hands, the other members calmly continued to sip their tea. "Uhmm...The weather's been nice lately..." It was Chizuru's small effort to stop her from focusing on the storm outside. "Yeah, except for today. It's like hell broke loose." Shinpatchi commented. Another LOUD clap of thunder was heard outside. "Guah..." Chizuru half-mumbled half-screamed. "What was that Chizuru-chan?" Heisuke asked. "I said...the tea's nice, right?" No one replied. They all eyed her secretly, noticing her uneasiness. Lightning flashed again. Then another GREAT loud clap of thunder rang throughout the room.
This time, Chizuru screamed at the top of her lungs. She quickly covered her mouth, hoping no one saw what she did. All eyes were on her, as her scream had made everyone in the room freeze. "Chizuru...do you have a fear of thunder?" Saitou asked. Chizuru slammed her tea down. "Yes!...ah-gomenasai!" She said, as she blushed. "I've had this fear ever since I was little." She quietly said. Silence was again in the room. "Why didn't you just say that earlier, Chizuru-chan?" Heisuke exclaimed. "Yeah! We could have all snuggled close to you." Harada smirked. "Hold you by your waist...You'd have liked it." Okita added in. "Enough." Hijikata bumped in. He sighed. "You can stay here as long as you want. They," he pointed towards the rest of the members "Will keep you company here, while I continue my research in my room." And with that, he exited.
"Gomen!" Chizuru bowed. "Oh, it's okay. Everyone's afraid of something, ne Heisuke?"Shinpatchi asked. "Yeah! Defini-" He was about to continue when a clap of thunder roared through the air. "AAAAAAHH!" Everyone looked at Chizuru. "Umm...That wasn't me.." She honestly answered. "I'M SORRY, I'M JUST REALLY SCARED!" All of a sudden, Hijikata appeared sprinting from the door, hiding behind Saitou. "Yupp, like I said, EVERYONE'S afraid of something!"
