Summary: Chet and Lorenzo share their theme song with Rock and Spud.
A/N: I really started to warm up to Rock and Spud, but I was glad they could walk off into the sunset with Chet and Lorenzo as buds. D'awww. There needs to be more buddy fics about these guys.
Chet and Lorenzo had been hanging out at Rock's parents basement. Not quite ready for the whole Ridonculous Race experience to end and to go back to life at home. Plus, the Rockers were pretty cool. Both Chet and Lorenzo found themselves looking up to them as guys who had it made.
They didn't have to answer to nobody... well, they had to answer to Rock's mom, but they didn't have to answer to anybody else and that was more than cool.
But what they really wanted to do was to get the Rockers approval of their badass, rockin' theme song. To show that they at least had talent for that kind of thing. They already knew their song was good, but they wanted others to know their song was good too.
"So you're ready to hear our song?"
"Take it away bros," encouraged Rock.
Chet cleared his throat and they both began with their air guitars and musical interlude.
"Stepbrothers, stepbrothers... we're the stepbrothers..."
"Rrrwwweeew."
Spud's eyes grew wider with recognition as they finished their riff. "Dudes, that was really gay."
"Spud!" Rock chastised. That really was not okay. These guys were trying, and even though they didn't have the musical prowess or experience of him and Spud, it didn't mean that their efforts needed to be devalued. "All he's trying to say is that it was um," How to put it nicely? "Showed some good passion, errr..." Rock was lost for words.
"All it sounded like to me," reiterated Spud nonchalantly taking a huge handful of choco-oinks, "was that you guys are completely gay for each other."
Lorenzo and Chet gave each other a glance and then jumped apart like the other one of them had caught fire.
"What?! No!" Lorenzo started the string of denials that were to come.
"We're not gay for each other! We just like the same stuff and read each others minds and-" Chet stopped the protesting, realizing that indeed it sounded like Spud was right.
They were indeed completely gay for each other.
"Yeah, there's gotta be more than that to be gay for each other," Lorenzo finished lamely.
"Whatever dudes, I don't care if you're gay for each other." Spud told them and downed the rest of the box of his favorite snack.
Chet and Lorenzo tentatively took a step back beside their step-brother. They knew one thing for sure though, that they weren't going to be sharing that song with anyone else anytime soon.
I needed a version post-race (unlike what I wrote in Nothing Like the First Time) and so this came to me.
