Lucy was walking home from school when a wave of nostalgia hit her. She slumped against a tree, her books spreading all around her.

She sighed thinking of Narnia and of never being able to go back.

Stop it, She scolded, you're not helping anything. You have beautiful new shoes. Think about that. But Narnia seeped back into her mind.

She sighed again thinking, I much preferred the gowns in Narnia. She laid her head against the tree behind her. Even the trees aren't right here.

She stood up looking at the park with new eyes. It seemed hollow and dead, as if all the life had been sucked out of it.

She laid a hand on the tree and whispered,

"Were you alive once? Did you ever dance without wind?"

Suddenly, a rustle tore through the trees as they whispered, A knowing child, a child of the lion.

Lucy could not hear their speech, but she saw the rustle and felt the lack of wind. She smiled and quickly checked that there was no on e watching before flinging her arms around the tree.

Then she calmly collected her scattered book and continued home, a smile on her face and a new spring in her step.
