If you wanted to cry, you came to the right place, friend. Please, I cried while writing this. I just had a brain storm-hurricane-thingy.

Artemis was a mess. The thought occurred to her as she slammed the door of her apartment. She slouched on the thrift shop couch and sniffled. Artemis wasn't one to cry, but every once in a while, she'd let a few tears slip.

She didn't want to be here anymore. She wanted Wally. Artemis sobbed for a few minutes, her thick blond hair slipping out of it's restraining ponytail and resting on her heaving shoulders. She sniffled and wiped her moistened eyes with her jacket sleeve.

After her blurred vision cleared, Artemis reached to the side table next to the couch for a frame. A ghost of a smile came over her face when she looked at the picture. A smiling Wally has his arm around her, an identical smile on her own face. Artemis's eyes wet again and she, in her anger, threw the picture across the room. A resounding crack showed she'd been successful with her impulsive decision.

Artemis let out a whimper and walked silently to their...her bedroom. She was needing a piece of Wally. A memory, something. Anything. Artemis cried as she went through Wally's drawers. Candy wrappers, pens, a wrinkled shirt begging to be washed. She came to the last drawer and stopped. She had no right going through Wally's things...like he was gone.

But he is gone, Artemis thought to herself. She opened Wally's bottom drawer. The entire drawer was empty except for a little box in the corner of it, next to a bright yellow sticky note. Artemis let out a little gasp and scooped up the velvet covered box.

She opened it slowly. Inside was the most gorgeous ring she'd ever seen. It was a silver band with a dark chartreuse gem in the middle. When she squinted her eyes to look closer, the gem looked almost yellow. She picked up the ring from it's box and inspected it. On the inside of the band, cursive read "You are my Spitfire."

She dropped the ring and the box with shaking hands. Artemis reached into the drawer and picked up the sticky note. Wally familiar scrawl stretched across the flamboyant note. "Note to Wall-man-" Artemis smiled at Wally's familiar self-nickname as tears streamed down her face.

"Ask Artemis to marry me after this whole Reach thing is over with. And if she says no, I'll tell her Mrs. Artemis West has a very nice ring to it."

Artemis gasped and let out a small whimper. Wally was going to ask her to marry him. She would've said yes. Artemis looked up at the ceiling. She could've been Artemis West.

Her husky, coarse, voice echoed through the room. "I love you."

I warned you. It's short I know. Sorry if you need a therapist now. I recommend Black Canary. (smiles sheepishly)
