His green eyes fluttered open slowly, his biological clock kicking in, it was probably around 6 am or something like that and he was used to his daily routine of running in the morning or hitting the small gym inside the Great Fox depending on where he was. But not today, as his eyes landed on the sleeping figure next to him, strong arms wrapping his body, the other's warmth was so comfortable and soothing it made leaving the bed a hard time, as always.

How did they end up like this again? It always came back to this, he wasn't even sure how all it started, they were rivals, they had tried to kill each other and now they were sharing the bed, stark naked. Everytime they found each other on space, they'd have a dogfight, snarky remarks and somehow, end up in bed together. This time had been no different, probably the second time this month already. Was their fate sealed that day when he found the other in a bar, argued, had a lot of drink and ended up like this? He wasn't sure. And not being sure wasn't in his dictionary. Insecurities lead to failure, but there he was, again.

He slid silently out of the other's arms and headed to the restroom, turning the water faucet on, as he hopped inside the shower, relaxing as the water soaked his orange fur, he sighed in relief at how good the steamy liquid felt, and he didn't want to think about the other anymore. The bath was however short lived, he wanted out as quickly as possible, before he waked up. He always snuck out of the apartment while the other slept, it was a good thing he was a heavy sleeper, or it would be awkward.

Fox grabbed the towel and dried as quick and as best as he could, stepping outside, looking for his clothes on the ground, slipping inside of them, trying his best not to look back at the sleeping figure on the bed. He slid his boots on, buckling the belts...his mind playing tricks on him, his heart racing…

'The hero that saved the Lylat system...wallowing with a murderer...a mercenary that worked for Andross…'

'Andross...the one that killed my father...and still...'

He didn't bother to promise himself it would never happen again, he had told himself that several times, and each and every time he had failed. He knew this wasn't the last time he'd wake up in that bed, next to the other, he was certain of that. He finally fixed his bandana in place, standing up from the bed, a last glance back at the figure, who shifted slightly in sleep.

'Later, Wolf' he said those words in his head as he stepped outside the place, locking the door behind him, unaware of the pair of violet eyes staring back at him.
