Fuck.

The swear word falls out of her perfectly poised mouth and drops into the ocean where here tears should be.

Alpha's don't cry.

She goes through every room, one by one, checking to make sure that there all empty. Which isn't easy, because they have a lot of rooms.

When she decided that they are she sinks to the couch and cries. For something she didn't get, and daddy can't help. It scares her a little bit.

The fact that she cares is even worse.

He's really messed up a lot, hasn't he? And although Massie Block doesn't do second chances, the past mistakes were all 1 and a quarter, or a third, or a half. Eventually they all added up.

Their so predictable. So unnatural, clichéd and flawed. Yet their perfect, his funny, goofy demeanour balancing out her mix of the elements personality. She's never believed in opposites.

She does now.

It's strange, because she loves him, good to god l.o.v.e.s him, all at the tender age of 13.

That doesn't matter anymore.

Because even if that doorbell rang, showing Derrick on the doorsteps, serenade and chocolates and something equally mushy in hand, she'd just slam the door.

You can learn to disguise your feelings. Massie Block is already a master at that particular Alpha move. Her façade never falters, not even for one close second.

Because she's Massie Block.

Block.

Harrington.

Block.

Harrington.

What does that even mean anymore? It's a legacy, of lost love and despair. Sometimes she wonders if this is really worth it, or only just a test. If she should just run away and be nice.

Her train of thought slips away from her brain as a thought enters.

Boy toys, anyone?

..0.

He can't breath.

Ifs that really a surprise, shock even? For he's falling, falling, falling, down, down under.

Drowning in the raindrops, that mix with his tears, so no one can see him crying.

Boys don't cry.

Boys don't feel.

Boys don't have hearts.

And although Derrick Harrington is defiantly a boy, at least last time he (and Olivia Ryan, Strawberry, Silla Pantherst, Manda Littleman and her) checked.

So why is this happening to him?

(Because he's a dumbass who's too stupid to realize when a good thing falls in front of him.)

He likes donuts.

He likes soccer.

He likes pizza.

He likes Massie Block.

(That's a lie. He loves her.)

She is a permanent resident of his thoughts, dreams and wishes. Though he shies away from them, they will never be denied.

(They just never will become reality.)

..0.

Two messed up kids.

Two lonely hearts.

One feeling of destruction.

One sense of underrated loss.

Three signs of love.

No way out.

No way back in.

Amber meet brown, shake the invisible hand good bye.

It's so easy to make the biggest mistake of your life.
