Chap. 1—The Meeting of the Sworn Sisters
It was a beautiful day in Beijing; people laughing, talking, and having fun. Beijing seems like a really nice place to live in.
Two girls were walking down the busy street. They were wondering around, trying to find a new inn for them to stay in. The first girl, Tomoyo, was carrying a beautiful painting and fan whenever she went. The second one was Chiharu, who was her maid ever since Tomoyo was little.
It has been a month since both of them was staying in Beijing. Tomoyo was in Beijing because she was searching for her father. Her father was the Emperor of China. She was a widowed child by her mother, Xia Yu He. She couldn't go into the palace because the gates are closed to commoners. Another reason is only the Royal Family could go in.
"Chiharu, lets look over there." As there was a big crowd covering the street. Three people were performing martial arts. The audience started clapping and gave them money. Two of them are brother and sister, Takashi and Rika. Another one was a girl with large almond shaped eyes, Sakura. Suddenly, someone took Tomoyo's belongings. Takashi, Rika, and Sakura saw that and started fighting with the thief with their martial arts. After they have defeated the thief, Sakura came up to Tomoyo and Chiharu and said, "Here you go! If I see that thief again, I'll go nuts!" Tomoyo and Chiharu was amazed at how talkative the girl was. "My name is Sakura!" she said. "What's yours?" "I'm Tomoyo. This is my maid and friend Chiharu. Nice to meet you, Sakura!"
Tomoyo told Sakura that Chiharu and herself couldn't find a place to stay in, so Sakura, Takashi, and Rika brought them to their place. Day by day, those five grew closer and closer, and because of that Tomoyo and Sakura decided to be sworn sisters. They also decided that Sakura should be the older sworn sister. Ever since then Sakura's birthday is on August 1st, while Tomoyo's on August 2nd. Now since they are all so close, Tomoyo told them about who her father was. "My father is the Emperor Qian Long." Those three was shocked, but they decided to help Tomoyo find her father, no matter how hard it will take.
They all sat around a table chatting. They were making a plan to meet Tomoyo's father, the Emperor. Tomoyo, Sakura, and Chiharu couldn't wait. Their plan was the three of them climbing up the Imperial Hunting Forest the next month, when and where the Emperor would go hunting along with other royal people.
