Promise or not

Samantha was on her way to the kitchen when Elliot started to cry. "Mom can you help me?"

"Sorry I can't I am busy."

"I am cooking breakfast and I am on the phone with a business office."

"Why are you calling a business office? You don't work."

"Well I got a job interview but I am telling them I can't work because of a situation that is soon going to happen."

"What is going to happen?'

"I am not going to tell you now. I think now is a good time to call a babysitter. I can't watch the baby today, because I have tons of errands to do and I can't keep watching Elliot."

A couple of hours later while Samantha was in school she got called in the office. "Samantha since summer ended and you had a baby a couple of months ago, it is time to tell you that you are behind and if you don't take a couple courses that you were suppose to take while in summer school then whenever the time you are suppose to graduate then you won't be able to."

"What are you talking about? Why didn't you tell me earlier, like when I was in summer school?"

"Well we didn't see this as a problem at the time and now we do." Samantha was frustrated and the school called her mom and told her and she was upset, but she told them that they won't be here after Christmas break.

Later that evening Samantha was in her room with Elliot. Then her mom came in. "I heard what happened at school today. I just want to tell you that I will help you with this."

"Mom, I can't afford a babysitter, the last one was fifteen dollars a hour. I know what happened at school and I was upset but I can do it over summer break or next semester."

"Yea next semester."

After a long conversation with her mom she went to bed. The next day Samantha was walking home with Chris and Tom."Did yall here about me having to take a six week course and a test just to graduate high school?"

"I think so," Chris and Tom said.

Once she got to her driveway she saw a sign on her lawn that she could see well. She went up to see what the sign said and then her face went blank. It said For Sale.
