This is a complete mess of a story that one writes when they haven't written in forever because of their lack of talent, have been absent from a fandom for nearly a decade, and barely had enough sleep to function properly. Having said that please don't expect much from this story which I'll say takes place in the Crystal Tokyo, so naturally it features a more mature Rei and Minako.
"We can do what we want," Minako assured her best friend as they hid in the shadows of the Crystal Palace.
"Maybe," Rei agreed hesitantly, "That doesn't mean we should, though." The normally so confident and sure Rei, Princess of Mars, seemed almost like a completely different person as she huddled next to Minako, with the blonde's arm wrapped around her waist as if she were a lifeboat and she would surely drown if she let go.
"Don't tell me you haven't been absolutely dreaming of this for ages, Rei-Chan." Minako smirked and Rei couldn't help but roll her eyes at the Goddess of Love's cockiness. Before she could snark out a reply, something that was much more in character than cowering in a corner with her pseudo lover, Rei was taken by surprise as Minako began to kiss the nape of her neck gently.
"Someone could see," Rei croaked out with much effort. The feeling of Minako's soft lips on her neck made her vision go hazy and her legs feel like jelly, but it wasn't good enough to completely disarm her from reality. She would be more than mortified if someone were to see them. Goddess forbid, what if Neo Queen Serenity happened upon them? What if - ?
"Since when do you care what other people think?" Minako asked quietly as she felt the expansion of Rei's small back and drew her closer.
Not that Rei had ever visualized this before. No, never. Absolutely never, but never in all her days of not visualizing this did she ever expect Minako would be the aggressor in the situation. Minako's confidence and her unsureness was a bit of a surprise for sure, Rei thought.
"Rei..." Minako gave Rei's neck a light bite and brought her abruptly out of her thoughts. "I said since when do you care what other people think?"
Rei scowled despite the pleasure Minako was giving her as her hands roamed her body, feeling every inch of skin through her tight fitting Senshi outfit. "I don't care what other people think, Mina-Chan!" Rei defended herself. "It's just..."
"Just what?" Minako asked curiously just as she touched Rei in a place no woman and only a few men had ever touched her before, causing the raven haired warrior to let out a small shriek of surprise.
Ignoring Minako's smirk and stilling her adventurous hand, Rei said firmly, as if she could will all of this away with stern, strong words, "I don't like girls, Minako,"
The blonde regarded her best friend for a moment. For the life of her Rei couldn't read Minako's thoughts and suddenly felt very worried. This is exactly what she had been hoping to avoid; hurting their friendship.
"Minako - " Rei began but was cut off by a slight smile accompanied by a small laugh from her friend.
"Neither do I."
"What?"
Minako's smile grew only bigger. "I said neither do I. I don't like girls, Rei-chan."
"But..." Rei's brain went into overdrive as she tried to process Minako's words. Okay, so Minako didn't like girls...then what was this? What was all this flirting as of late? This kissing? This touching? It didn't make sense. Not only that, but Rei felt somewhat disappointed by this revelation. Minako didn't like girls, so by proxy, Minako didn't like her in that way. Why did that make her slightly sad?
"Don't cry, Rei-Chan," Minako gave her an innocent peck on the cheek. Mirth alight in her bright blue eyes while only confusion was laced in violet ones. "I said I don't like girls. They're not my thing, but you're definitely my thing."
