He was cold, he was tired, and his lover was lying unconscious right in front of him.
The former champion was sitting cross-legged on an old wooden chair by Yusei's bedside, the smaller man shivering in his sleep. Jack despised seeing Yusei in such a state—the strong, selfless duelist, taken out by his old friend. The day Kalin Kessler dared to cross paths with Jack Atlas, he'd pay the price.
"You're staying?"
Jack whipped his head around, Crow leaning against the chipped door frame. He looked just as worried as Jack was. The blond nodded mutely, turning back around, focusing on Yusei's face.
"Together forever my ass." Crow growled, promptly leaving the room. Jack recognized the phrase immediately—something the Enforcers had promised each other after they took out all of the Duel Gangs.
Yusei stirred, groaning lowly. Jack winced. He stood up from his chair, hovering over the duelist. He let his hand trail over Yusei's tracking dye, tempted to try and rub it away. He could hear Rally outside of the room, arguing with Crow to let him see Yusei, but Crow trying to tell him he can't.
"You're stronger than this, Yusei." Jack murmured, running his thumb lovingly down Yusei's cheek. He was still just as beautiful while unconscious. "Wake up and fight back."
He didn't expect a response; he was mostly trying to keep himself positive. He sat back down in his chair, crossing his legs again. The door to the room was softly shut; he assumed it was Martha.
Jack didn't expect to see sapphire eyes stare back at him either.
"Jack…"
