Alone
It was a dark and cold night, at least for Lucy. Natsu had yet again ditched her and left her alone. He had promised that they would go on a mission that day. Just him, Happy, and her but he broke his promise and switched her for Lisanna. Sure Lucy was happy that Natsu had his friend back but she didn't like him leaving her all alone. She didn't even have the strength to write her novel or even read a good book. The celestial mage kept looking to the window to see if Natsu would come bounding in with his goofy grin; Happy following suit. Natsu and Happy never showed that night.
The next day, Lucy reluctantly left her apartment and went to the guild. The mission that she and Natsu had chosen wouldn't take more than a day to complete so Lisanna, Natsu, and Happy should be back at the guild by the time she reached the guild. Since she didn't want to see Natsu with Lisanna, Lucy walked around town twice; hoping that the walk would get her mind off Natsu ditching her, breaking his promise, and leaving her alone.
Finally, she arrived at the guild. Looking at the huge doors with Fairy Tail's logo above it, Lucy took a deep breath before entering. What she saw after entering turned her, already semi-cold heart and insides, to ice. There she saw Natsu, Lisanna, Happy, Gray, and Erza laughing and talking. But the thing that made her insides turn to ice was seeing Natsu with his arm around Lisanna's shoulder. Natsu had done that to her before and she would always blush. Yet there was the pink dragon slayer, acting as if it was the most normal thing to do. He never put his arm around any girl other than her.
"What's wrong Lucy? You don't look right," Mirajane said loud enough to get Gray and Erza's attention. Mira had noticed Lucy's expressionless face and instantly became worried. However Natsu, Happy, and Lisanna didn't even notice. They were too busy talking with each other to notice the blonde celestial mage. But Lucy noticed that those three didn't notice her.
It was then that Lucy bowed to Mira, Gray, and Erza, and left. The blonde didn't even make it more than two steps inside the guild's door. She couldn't be at the guild anymore. It hurt too much. She knew that Lisanna and Natsu had known each other more, but wasn't she special to him? Hadn't he told her to come with him? Was all that just a ploy for him to get his mind off his father and Lisanna? Why did she have to fall in love with him?
Unlocking her apartment, Lucy collapsed onto the ground; her apartment door wide open. She had fainted due to stress and heart break. Usually if something was wrong with her, Natsu would be there to make sure that everything was okay. He had told her that she was part of his nakama and would always be there when she needed him. Yet he wasn't there when she fainted or was he ever coming.
Later that night, Natsu was grumbling to himself as he walked over to Lucy's apartment. He didn't want to leave Happy and Lisanna but Erza and Mira had threatened to beat him up if he didn't check up on Lucy. Apparently she didn't look to good when she came and when she had left... whenever that was.
Natsu rounded the corner and saw Lucy's door wide open; a pair of legs sticking out of the door frame. He immediately rushed over to see Lucy unconscious on the floor of her apartment. The fire mage slowly touched her and cringed away. She was freezing cold. Taking a deep breath, he went and picked up the blonde girl. She was limp in his arms. It was then that Natsu decided to check her pulse. He couldn't find any. Tears started flowing from his black eyes and he realized the Lucy was dead. She had died alone. He had officially broken the biggest promise that he had made to Lucy. "You'll never be alone from now on. I promise!"
