For As Long As We Have To Be Together

Kagome sighed in defeat, seeing there was no way out of her chores as her village's miko. After the war with Naraku ended, Inuyasha went to hell with Kikyo, saying Kagome was always ugly as a rotting copse and Kikyo was beautiful enough to rival a goddess. Kagome flipped the two off, showing her wedding ring in the progress, and said that her fiancée would slaughter them for saying that. Miroku and Sango went to Sango's village, hoping to rebuild it with a freed Kohaku. Shippo was the only one who stayed with her, even when he found out that she was half Ishbalan from her demon father.

Traveling back to her real time period and finding a small Ishbalan refugee camp, Kagome and Shippo became the camp's guardians. Kagome was brought out of her thoughts when she heard a little girl's voice yell," Nee-chan!" Kagome barely had time to react as May tackled her. The miko landed with a hard thump on the dirt, dirtying her red and white robes. "Where's Shippo-chan, Nee-chan?"

Kagome looked into the little girl's dark eyes and answered with," He's playing with the other children down in the old runes." The little princess got up, thanked the woman, and took off looking for her friend/crush.

"May really missed you and the boy." Kagome looked up at the sound of a male voice, just to smile. A dark skinned hand grab one of her small, pale ones and pulled her up so she could stand. Kagome giggled and hugged the toned body of her Ishbalan fiancée.

"Are you saying you didn't miss me, Scar?" The serial killer gently smiled, so different then his usually serious facial expression. Scar kissed the top of Kagome's black/dark blue hair with so much love that the State would have wonder if the Ishbalan man was really a wanted killer.

Scar's answer to his love's question was, "Don't say that. You know better than anyone how much I miss holding you." Kagome did know better. After all, she was the one who helped him get over his brother's death and the deaths of his fellow Ishbalans. She was the one who always saw him as a misunderstood human, not a heartless serial killer. She was what he called his "saving grace."

The two star cross lovers stood there, trying to remember each other's warmth, for they knew that Scar would have to leave soon. At moments like these, the world seems to disappear and there was only them. And, at moments like those, they make every second count for as long as they had to be together before the death took them apart for a little while. For what love has joined, death cannot separate.
