As I opened my eyes they were met with the bright light of the sun. It took my eyes a couple of seconds to get used to, but as the scene unfolded itself upon my gaze, I couldn't help but gasp. I was looking up into the tall trees of a dense forest. The forest was as green as the lush grass of the golf course at the country club. I slowly started to notice my surroundings, from the soft mushy ground I was laying on to the icy breeze making its way between the trees.
I slowly brought myself up with my arms. I looked up once again. I could see the soft light of the sun sneak through the branches of the trees until it made its way to where I was sitting. I put my hand out to feel the warmth of the sun envelop my cold hand. Even though it was cold, my insides were strangely warm.
I was comfortable where I sat, so stayed where I was, enjoying the view. I passed a few peaceful minutes in pure awe of my surroundings, until the rustle of leaves brought me back to reality. I quickly stood up, and grabbed a fist-sized rock. As dramatic as this seems, the way the leaves had rustled slowly, almost gracefully, made me think I wasn't dealing with an animal.
I slowly turned step by step, in my fleece jacket, Ugg boots, and yoga pants. I guess even a dream couldn't keep me from my regular nightly attire. I continued turning, until I noticed a trail. I followed the trail slowly with my eyes. It seemed well enough lit for me no to get lost, so I zipped up my jacket and started walking slowly. I followed the trail for at least half an hour. I soon began to tire of the rocky terrain, and clearly Ugg boots weren't made for this kind of walking. I was thinking about stopping when I noticed the trail led straight into a pool of vast light.
Slowly my eyes got used to the light, and made out a shape. A shape of a boy slowly appeared. They boy still hadn't seen me as he too was stepping into the pool of light through a trail. So I tired to be brave for once in my life and simply said…
"Who's there?" said the boy. I jumped out of my skin. I hadn't thought he had seen me. So me being me usual clumsy self, I tripped over my own feet, falling into the meadow.
"Ouch!" I muffled out. My mouth was then filled with a ton of dandelions and all those other nice flowers you would find in a meadow, but I didn't really care what type of flowers were currently infiltrating my mouth.
The boy rushed from out of the woods and grabbed me from my arm, and slowly helped me up. I kept my back to him, and dusted myself off.
"I'm sorry. I didn't expect you to fall. Did you just trip over your own feet?" he said. He started laughing, and trust me, when you're an eleven year old girl, you are not about to take comments about your imperfection and flaws from some random kid you meet in the woods. So I did what I knew how to do best. Turned around and punched him right in the gut, enjoying the grunt that escaped his lips as he grabbed his stomach. I simply smiled, and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't expect it to hurt. Did you just get punched by a girl?"
I was truly proud of myself, and I knew my mom would've been proud of me as well. I was already imagining her reaction to the great punch. I was brought back to reality when he said "Jeeze, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you… or insult you."
After that I just felt plain bad, and when he brought his head up, I felt even worse. His face… was perfect. He had incredibly pale skin, much like mine, smooth bronze hair, stunning facial features, and the most striking part was his emerald-green eyes, which I was immediately lost in. The last thing I heard before I was engulfed into his eyes was, "My name is Edward Cullen, pleased to meet you, Isabella."
