Old story I found, probably going to be about two or three parts long.
"Heather," A yell came from the front of the house, "I'm home."
Alejandro walked into the house he shared with his wife. In his hands, he carried a box that was wrapped up like a present. It had a yellow ribbon wrapped around the sides and blue wrapping paper hastily taped on. It was obvious that Alejandro wrapped it himself from how neat it was despite the amount of time he had taken to wrap it.
The box stirred a little; the grown man shushed the box as if a living being was in the cubical space.
"Heather!" Alejandro yelled again.
"What?" The woman appeared in the hallway in front of her husband. She looked annoyed with him, but when wasn't she?
"I got you a present," He smiled holding it out to her.
Her face lit up and she grabbed the box out of his hands, "What's the occasion? It's not our anniversary; it's not a holiday and it's not my birthday."
They walked into the living room to the left and she plopped down on the floor in front of the couch. He sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
Heather looked up at him, "What's in here? It's kind of heavy."
"You have to open it," Alejandro teased.
The raven-haired woman pulled off the yellow ribbon. She threw it aside and starting tearing at the blue paper. When all was tore away, it was just a cardboard box with holes poked into it that was left. She pulled up the flaps of it to find soft black fur.
"You didn't."
"I did."
She pulled the Labrador retriever puppy out of the box and stared at it. He couldn't have really done this; she couldn't believe it. Though, she had to admit: The little creature was rather cute.
She turned to her husband with a look that showed that she was not amused, "What is it? A boy or a girl?"
"It's a girl," He replied, giving the little dog a scratch on her ear.
"What's her name?" Heather asked, now looking back at the puppy.
"She doesn't have one; I didn't give her one. I thought you could."
"Wait, you bring home a dog, when I told I didn't want one in the first place, and you expect me to name it?"
"Her," Alejandro corrected.
Heather stuck her tongue out at him. She went back to looking at the dog and stared thoughtfully at it, "What could we name you?"
The puppy just locked her large, chocolate brown eyes with Heather's grey ones. Suddenly, without any notice, the dog stuck out her tongue and gave her new owner a nice, wet, slobbery "kiss."
"EW!" Heather screeched, passing the dog over to Alejandro. She rushed off to the bathroom to get rid of the saliva from her face.
Alejandro could only laugh. He massaged the dog's ear gratefully, "You're a good girl, chica."
The furry creature just yapped happily.
