Getting there

Getting there

Chapter 1

Sunday

Bella shivered drawing a sharp breath as the icy marble fingers traced their way up her back, pausing in their ascent to explore the pale canvassing of her skin. The hands hesitated.

"Did I hurt you?" his voice purred in her ear smoother than velvet. Bella shook her head, locking eyes with him, she had not shivered because he had hurt her or even because of his icy touch, much cooler than that of a normal humans, she had shivered in pure delight and now that his hands had stopped it was torture.

"Go on" she pleaded, giving him her most desperate look. Edward gazed into her eyes trying to gauge her expression but before he could say anything, she lowered her lips to his, grazing them across the smooth stony perfection. Edward couldn't resist and they melted back into each other, his hands moving again, trembling, as he began to lift the edge of her shirt. Bella gasped as his perfect forearm brushed her breast on its way past and dug her fingers into his strong, lean, back. She brought herself closer hitching her leg around his thigh and deliberately moved her hands lower, nails brushing his sculpted chest, to unfasten his belt. She undid the clasp and was feeling for the zipper when he caught her wrist. She looked up into his golden eyes.

"Bella", he whispered a light rose blush creeping across his cheeks. Bella froze and looked down self consciously. Am I doing something wrong? She wondered. They had come so close so many but one had always stopped the other "let's wait until marriage" or "I want to do this your way" but now that they were both ready…What the hell am I doing wrong? She wondered.

"Bella, I…", he started, his voice breaking through her thoughts, "I don't think I can do this." Bella stared dumbfounded, trying to make sense of what he was saying.

"Bella, I, I don't think I'm…ready yet." Her jaw dropped incredulously, he had had over a hundred years to get ready for this and he chose now to figure it out?

"Bella, I'm sorry" he said, worry paining his face, "I'll make it up to you, I promise, you know what? Maybe I am ready, Let's just do it, okay?" Bella let out a long tired sigh.

"No Edward" she said "I don't want to push you into something you're not ready for. Besides, you kind of killed the moment there"

Edward bowed his head sheepishly and re-buckled his leather belt.
