"So what's happening?" General Shepard asked as he strolled into the comference room.
"Nothing to hurry back for, certainly not you lunch," McKay teased as he didn't even look up from his laptop, "Its only the fate of the galaxy."
"Rodney is tuning the sensors to detect it," General Carter prompted McKay back to work. Rodney groaned and turned back to the laptop. General Carter continued, "The Ichorus sent us some disturbing intel. The pegasus replicators have begun wiping out human civilizations."
"Its like the beam satellite we faced a few years ago," McKay added, "I'm calibrating the sensors to detect such beams."
"You mean the beam that forced us off the planet?" General Shepard asked. Carter nodded grimly. Shepard continued, "So what's the plan?"
"For now, the attacks seem random," Sam answered, "So we assume they don't know our location. Even so, we have to act soon."
McKay looked up excitedly, "I did it. Turn on the monitor." Sam turned on a large monitor. The screen lit up and showed a rough map of the galaxy; thousand of tiny red, yellow, and blue lights covered the screen and several were circled in red and several red lines criss-crossed the screen. Rodney sprang from his seat and moved Sam away from the monitor as he stepped in. Sam looked at him indignantly but McKay didn't notice as he began, "This is a map of the galaxy, the lights are stars, the circled systems have satellites. The sensors can't distinguish planets but the satellites are clearing the systems out."
"Just when things were going so well," Shepard mused. He continued, "By 'clearing out' you mean?"
"The weapon will destroy the planet if it can't find life signs," Sam clarified, "I guess the replicators figure that the wraith will starve if they can't land on any planet."
"Yes, yes, its bad out there," McKay cut in, "I couldn't get to the best part. The sensors also can deteched their hyperspace signatures. One of those satellites is coming here."
"So my day just got worse? How long do we have?"
"Days," McKay answered, "Days before this planet is completely obliterated."
