The Parable of the Prodigal Son

Even when they are telling him to go, to save himself, to please your Majesty leave now while you still can we'll hold them back, the thought never occurs to him to take flight.

Not only because he is King.

Not only because he owes it to these souls who love him and fight for him as willingly and as surely as they draw precious breath into their lungs.

But because he will never forsake Narnia again.

His sword flashes this way and that, and he imagines all the while that he can hear Aslan roaring mightily in his ear.
